Popular Protestant YouTube host announces decision to convert to Catholicism

Cameron Bertuzzi, a popular Protestant YouTube host, announced Thursday online that he is in the process of converting to Catholicism.

“So, the big announcement is that on Sept. 20, 2022, I decided to become Catholic. I’m currently in an RCIA program and will be confirmed this coming Easter,” Bertuzzi said in a YouTube video.

His conversion “came at the tail end of a deep study into the evidence for and against the papacy,” he said.

“As a Protestant, I went into the study with an open mind. Ultimately, I told myself that I would follow the evidence wherever it leads, even if that conclusion is uncomfortable for me or for my family,” Bertuzzi said.

His Protestant friends were “very confident” that his study would only confirm his Protestant faith, “but they were wrong,” he said.

“What I found was that the evidence strongly suggests that the papacy is true,” he said.

Bertuzzi, whose Capturing Christianity YouTube channel has just short of 150,000 subscribers, said that he will be speaking about the details of his conversion on other channels, not his own.

Matt Fradd, popular Catholic YouTube host of the channel Pints with Aquinas, “got so excited about this news, as you can imagine, he decided to pay to fly me out to the Vatican, the one in Rome, to detail my journey on his channel,” Bertuzzi shared.

“So, if you’re interested in my reasons for conversion, the impact this decision has had on me and my family, and all the rest, then join Matt Fradd and I live on Pints with Aquinas from the Vatican tomorrow,” meaning Friday, Nov. 18.

Bertuzzi has hosted a multitude of well-known Christians and Catholics on his channel. Among them are Catholic apologists Trent Horn and Jimmy Akin of the apostolate Catholic Answers; Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester; theologian and professor Scott Hahn; Fradd; and Father Vincent Lampert, an exorcist for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

Videos with Barron and Lampert both gained hundreds of thousands of views respectively.

Bertuzzi’s channel can be seen here.

Now, it remains a documented fact-
that MORE people LEAVE Catholicism than convert to the Church-
so there's that out of the way...

Now directing attention to the Pope smackers and Cath clergy dissenters here on FR...
Is it possible that- given all the negative vibe about the state of the Church (since 1965)...
and the personal cost of becoming Catholic-
is it possible that the Church offers a fullness of the Truth -beyond that of the flawed men who sometimes obstruct and obscure that vision of the Church Christ gave us?

Or is it still just all about Pope Francis bad?

He should skip the middle step and go right to Eastern Orthodoxy.

Being RC and $5 will get you a cup of coffee

Being P and $5 will get you a cup of coffee and a glass of water.

I watched his interview with Matt Fradd.

This Cameron guy seriously looked at EO as well.
He said his scriptural dive into what he was looking for
led him to believe there was too much proof and truth FOR the Papacy
to settle for anything less than that.
(With an assist from the smart guy Suan Sonna.)

Biggest mistake he’ll ever make and it’s an eternal one.

Agreed. There is really no evidence in favor of a Pope - in scripture. There is ample evidence that the leaders of the “church” were often vain philosophers by 3-400 AD, but I guess that goes back to the REAL question of PRIMACY: Scripture breathed by God, or human institutions!

Simple answer. Never heard of this guy but “Popular Protestant YouTube host” has all sorts of warning bells going off! What is next, theology based on a TikTok influencer?

Study the Bible and .....................

You have correctly identified the problem. What has higher authority? The Bible or church history?

He ignored the SCRIPTURAL evidence apparently.

Umm.. just the opposite really...
He will most likely lose most of the 150,000 "followers"
he has grown to his you tube channel.

He knows his conversion will cost him very much.
Losing Family, friends... all that goes with converting.
But it sounds like he has counted the cost...

If they're so true to the church Christ gave us then why have they kept so much of the ancient Babylonian paganism in their dogma? The paganism that Christ explicitly preached against? I know I'll once again be labeled a hater for this, but that's what my studies into the history of catholicism and their dogma has proven to me.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

Pope Francis is bad. Not as bad as some, historically speaking, but bad. There have been a few bad Popes, and more of them who were well intentioned but not up to the job. There was never any guarantee there wouldn’t be, nor does that prove anything. The argument is ancient, and settled, as far as educated Catholics are concerned, by St. Augustine, in his refutation of the Donatist heresy.

The Catholic Church is unbiblical with their mass rituals, praying to and for the dead, repetitive prayers, asking man to forgive their sins, calling a priest father, paying money to get people out of a fairy tale land called purgatory, putting Mary above Jesus, thinking Peter was a pope, adding to the Bible, playing with trinkets and bowing to statues

Thinking the church has the power to anoint saints when the Bible says all Christians are saints
