Justice Department Assistant Director Calls Christian Legal Nonprofit a ‘Hate Group’

Eric Bruskin's comments about Alliance Defending Freedom raise further concerns about the politicized Department of Justice.

WASHINGTON, D.C (LifeSiteNews) – A senior official in the Department of Justice (DOJ) and former attorney for the ACLU called Alliance Defending Freedom a “hate group” and told another attorney he would not want to be associated with him anymore for speaking at an event sponsored by the Christian legal nonprofit.

“Honored to speak with Matt Sharp at Alliance Defending Freedom about the work we’re doing in Florida to protect kids from experimental medical interventions and to defend parental rights, all thanks to the leadership of Governor DeSantis,” Jason Weida, a former assistant U.S. attorney who now serves in Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration wrote on LinkedIn.

“Jason, this is a hate group. You’re speaking at a conference for a hate group. Are these the beliefs you hold? If so, then it’s time we end our professional association,” Eric Bruskin, assistant director of commercial litigation, wrote in response. He appears to have deleted his LinkedIn or made it private, as the current version of the comment is different from the one first reported by the Daily Signal. His photo is no longer shown or are his pronouns.

The left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center considers ADF a “hate group” for its advocacy against homosexual “marriage” and in support of religious liberty. Mainstream media organizations like ABC News have repeated the slur based on the SPLC’s assertion.

LifeSiteNews emailed the DOJ press team on Thursday morning to ask what specific information Bruskin had reviewed before making his statements, if he had any regrets about it and if he believed that anyone who had worked for or with ADF on legal advocacy should be barred from working at the DOJ. It did not respond.

In a rational world, he would probably lose his job over that statement. He’s unfit to serve in an objective capacity.

Catholic League President Bill Donohue wrote the following letter today to Inspector General Michael Horowitz asking for an investigation of a Department of Justice official who evinces an animus against religious liberty organizations:

September 8, 2022

Dear Inspector General Horowitz:

Recently sent to DOJ Inspector General: “I am writing to you in my role as president of the nation’s largest Catholic civil rights organization. I would respectfully request that you conduct an investigation into the religious bias as evidenced by Eric P. Bruskin, assistant director of the commercial litigation branch of the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Division.

Bruskin’s decision to malign a prestigious law firm that specializes in the defense of religious liberty is troubling, especially to those of us who work in the same field. ...”

Just goes to show there is a deep state, and people in these organizations hate us, Christians, Conservatives and now aren’t afraid to discuss it and even eventually try to outlaw us

”In your face” is our communist masters' favorite tool to rattle the chains of tyranny that they have wrapped around our necks...

No Big Deal!
Our communist masters know that the pathetically servile and indolent Aamerican people will just continue to roll over and spread their collective cheeks...

The Aamerican people understand that the First Amendment calls for them to:
Bow down!... Obey!... Snitch!...

The most dangerous hate groups in America are BLM, the unions and the RAT Party.

Bruskin is a other insider far-left wackjob at DOJ. He would have been a great conversationalist at a rising Nazi Germany political gathering.

He’s a modern day American KAPO for the Marxists.

Alliance Defending Freedom is the most effective Christian legal organization.
It was created by several Christian organization (J. Dobson Focus on the family is one that just comes to my mind).
It has the ACLU model of having lawyers on staff to sue, but for protection of Christian and Freedom of speech values.
I has achieved many major victories, so it became target of the left.
I support them regularly, they are in many ways quite moderate, bible based, just trying to slow down the leftists onslaught in culture.
Nothing hateful there!
The only hateful are the people who are trying to shut them up!

The left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center considers ADF a “hate group”

SPLC is a hate group, all by itself.

There's a church about an hour from here on their "hate map". I dug up the church's website. King James Only, independent fundamental Baptist. (< yawn!>). Nothing there that screams out hate to me.

Too much crying "wolf!", too much abuse of the word "hate". I'm at the point where, if someone shows up on the SPLC list, I'm inclined to cut them slack and at least listen to what they might have to say.
