No. It wasn't a flash of conscience. People get those all the time, and because they flash, they are ignored.
It was a tidal-wave of repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ, which can't be ignored, and will carry you out to sea.
When The Passion of the Christ was released, it led to many confessions of crime by people who were so moved by the film.
With NO evidence, it may be hard to convict him. Admission may not be enough. Will be interesting to watch.
At last, a true convert, death still tragic.
