FOR AN EXCELLENT 8-MINUTE OVERVIEW OF EZEKIEL |

Good Morning Dan, and happy ‘new work week’ to each of you.
Very exciting topic, and fine choices all. The ‘And Finally’* is tremendous. Thank you Dan!
*Antonakis Maritis is quite skilled indeed-
I quite agree about that last one, Leon. I understand that heavenly beings can assume any shape and size, and that one sure makes Ezekiel appear tiny.
Excellent, especially #25!
Et tu, Alba!
Good Morning everyone!
I agree totally. The majesty of #25 is breathtaking!
I also thought the woodcarving #10 was really nice.
Thanks again, Dan!
An astronomer like you, Pete, always realizes the utter immensity of the cosmos, but I think the rest of us are feeling sufficiently dwarfed by that last one. It argues for the overwhelming reality we have yet to experience.
Well said, Dan.
Ave, Daniēl!
Good Morning, Dan. :-)
Wow!
This subject elicits the most amazing creativity.
Interestingly, an abbreviated this selection from Ezekiel 1 is one of the readings that will be read around the world today at the daily Catholic mass. There is a post about elsewhere on FR.
One of my Bibles also has a representation of the four living creatures on the cover:
I have same RSV edition.
MXry-LXX!
Given such vivid and novel textual descriptions, the artists seem to have run wild.
A few years ago, my Bible's cover finally gave up the ghost, so I took it to a local bookbinder for a new leather cover ($55 with inscription). After prayerfully considering what gold-leaf inscription to specify--after all, "Bible" just means "book", and I wanted a meaningful title--I settled on what I take to be the Bible's overarching theme:
LOVINGKINDNESS |
That’s beautiful— and so appropriate.
I was saddened at the bookbinder’s reaction to my request for a recovering of my well-annotated Bible. She went on and on over all my notes—I concluded that people did not often bring her their Bibles for preserving.
