US Bishop Strips Jesuit School of ‘Catholic’ Status for Defiantly Flying ‘Pride’ and BLM Flags

‘To the best of my knowledge ... no American bishop has ever taken this step before,’ said Catholic Culture director Phil Lawler.

WORCESTER, Massachusetts (LifeSiteNews) – The Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Worcester has removed the “Catholic” status from a Jesuit-run school after it refused to heed his orders not to fly the LGBT rainbow flag and the Black Lives Matter flag.

In a decree issued June 16, Bishop Robert J. McManus rebuked the Jesuit-run Nativity School in Worcester, Massachusetts, for ignoring his previous directives about the flying of the “pride” and Black Lives Matter (BLM) flags.

“Despite my insistence that the school administration remove these flags because of the confusion and the properly theological scandal that they do and can promote, they refuse to do so. This leaves me no other option but to take canonical action,” he wrote.

The school, established in 2007, is for boys in Grades 5–8 and describes itself as “Roman Catholic/Jesuit.” It had been flying the two flags since January 2021 – at the desire of the students, according to the school – and replaced the flags after an unknown individual tore them down in March this year.

Bishop McManus had originally written in April 2022, ordering the school to remove the rainbow and BLM flags under the threat of losing its Catholic identity. “I must teach that it is imperative that a Catholic School use imagery and symbols which are reflective of that school’s values and principles so as to be clear with young people who are being spiritually and morally formed for the future,” he wrote.

I went to a Jesuit high school fifty years ago.

Looking back on it, most of the Jebbies were homos.

Over nearly 50 years, Leslie Sinclair has given a formidable 125 pints of blood.

But on his last trip he was turned away after refusing to answer a question on whether or not he was pregnant...

The stand-off took place as NHS England launched a campaign earlier this week to recruit a million more blood donors over the next five years after numbers fell during the pandemic...

I had Christian Brothers for two years in High School. They weren’t homos.

That’s because they weren’t Jebbies.

So glad the Bishop removed the Catholic status. The Jesuits are simply perverted Communist.

I doubt most of the Jebbies who taught me 50+ years ago were homos.i could think of three maybe four. About the same number as the lay faculty. But I knew of no liason with students. A lot of these Jebbies were intelligent tough guys who treated us intellectually as adults. One having been a Marine in the Pacific War. I doubt even the gay ones practiced . A gay priest who keeps celibate is as much of a priest as a hetero who keeps celibate. Sadly today’s Jebbies do not follow the same path.

I had Christian Brothers for two years in High School. They weren’t homos.

An older priest friend of mine was educated in Chicago by the Christian Brothers of Ireland. He told me all sorts of stories of Fr. Leo. He remembered those days fondly.

Years later, weather forced us to miss the last bus out of O'Hare, so I hired a private driver for $100 to drive my wife and me to the Rockford parking lot.

It turns out he also had Fr. Leo, and told the similar stories. He couldn't STAND the school.

Two men growing up in the same school, having the opposite reaction to the same experience. Very interesting.

I’d say you had a better or greater appreciation of the whole than did that driver. Thanks for sharing that.

My oldest brother, now retired, was/is a very successful Doctor who graduated from Notre Dame in 1962. He loved his time at ND. Some of his friends did not share that feeling. Now he is sad to see what that University has become. From happiness to sadness......

‘To the best of my knowledge ... no American bishop has ever taken this step before,’ said Catholic Culture director Phil Lawler.

This happened in the early 2000s with Marymount College in NY - and the school administration agreed/couldn’t care less.

Necessary step to ensure the faithful aren’t corrupted in secular private schools posing as “Catholic”.
