A Florida church is being slammed for planning a 'youth pride concert' that features a drag show, 'forbidden queer literature' and asks children attending to list their pronouns.
The free one-day event for children between the ages of 12 to 18 is scheduled to take place on May 21 at Naples United Church of Christ.
The church's pastor, who bills himself as a 'progressive', Rev. Dawson B. Taylor resigned last week, according to Florida's Voice. It's unclear whether his resignation was as a result of the backlash to the event. The reverend was previously accused of planning to host a secret 'gay prom' for students within the Collier County Public Schools District.
The event has been slammed online by Gov. Ron DeSantis' press secretary Christina Pushaw.
She shared an article by Florida's Voice that exposed plans from the event's organizers to use parking lots at local schools to assemble participants and provide them free transportation to the conference.
'Thank you @FLVoiceNews for exposing this and for making @collierschools aware of the situation!,' Pushaw tweeted on May 12.
DailyMail.com has contacted the event organizers for comment.
The Collier County Public Schools district said in a statement to Florida's Voice that it was not made aware of the event.

I used to attend a local UCC "church". Back in the early-mid 2000s they had two services and probably 200-225 in total attendance and a Sunday school program of 20-60 kids. Now weekly attendance is under 50 and some weeks the only kids to show up are the ministers.

He probably would have had plenty of parents (Mothers, mostly) willing to bring their child to this event, in full knowledge of it’s kinky and disturbing nature.
They may be united, but they're not really a church or have anything to do with Christ.
Just to clarify, do not get the United Church of Christ (which is very liberal) confused with the Churches of Christ (which are very conservative). Similar in name. Radically different in theology.

In my town/area we had several non-denominational Churches open up in non-traditional locations, primarily the local mall and some box store locations. The local UCC church was probably 35-50% full at thir two Christmas even services based on the YT stream they posted. One of the non-denominational Church had 3 services, all packed to capacity.
People have spoken with their wallets and feet.
The phrase “which is very liberal” is being nice. At they national level they are on the same level or even farther left than the Dems.
I looked it up, it sounds interesting.
When I was in college I majored in Religion and Biology (yes, those two, and biologists are the most atheistic of all scientists).
When studying American religion under a visiting professor from Howard University I learned just how complicated the American religious system is. It’s so diverse it would make a liberal’s head spin.
