1 Corinthians tells us clearly that it is the body and blood of Christ (as well as bread and wine), and so therefore we are obligated to believe that and obligated to partake in it.And I usually tend to jump in and say it is NOT clear.
Jesus did NOT tell Doubting Thomas to lick his fingers after he inspected Christ's wounds.
