Marjorie Taylor Greene: I Was Raised Catholic, but Wicked Bishops Have ‘Driven Me Away’ from the Church
LifeSite News ^ | 5/4/22 | Claire Chretien

‘Mrs. Greene's statement about leaving the Church is as enlightening as it is saddening,’ commented Michael Hichborn, president of the Lepanto Institute.

(LifeSiteNews) – Following criticism of comments she made about the U.S. Catholic bishops, conservative firebrand U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed that she was raised Catholic but left the Church “with great sorrow” when she had kids because she had concerns about the left-wing hierarchy protecting abusive priests.

“With great sorrow, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, I stopped attending Catholic Mass when I became a mother, because I realized that I could not trust the Church’s leadership to protect my children from pedophiles, and that they harbored monsters even in their own ranks,” the now-evangelical said in a lengthy statement.

The Georgia Republican was responding to the Catholic League’s Bill Donahue, who slammed her for suggesting in an interview with Church Militant’s Michael Voris that “Satan is controlling the Church.”

“The Church is not doing its job. And it’s not adhering to the teachings of Christ,” she added.

“It’s the Church leadership I was referring to when I invoked the Devil,” Greene clarified on Twitter. “Just so we’re clear, bishops, when I said ‘controlled by Satan,’ I wasn’t talking about the Catholic Church. I was talking about you.”

“The Catholic Church must throw out these monsters instead of lecturing the people its own bishops have driven away,” she continued, blasting the U.S. Catholic bishops as “some of the worst in the world” and “scheming bureaucrats in miters.” It was the “bishops’ wickedness” that drove her out of the Church, Greene said, and her own refusal to “submit the spiritual and physical livelihood of my children to these monsters.”

Greene, who is sometimes referred to as “MTG” (à la “AOC”), went on to say what many faithful Catholics who.......

sanctification (n.) “act or fact of being made holy,” 1520s, from Church Latin sanctificationem, noun of action from past-participle stem of Late Latin sanctificare “to make holy,” from sanctus “holy” (see saint (n.)). sanctification ( n.)

I wonder if, ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE, people who stuff their mouths full of pork and other prohibited unclean meat abominations, are holy?

Nope, not according to the bible.

Leviticus 11:44For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
45For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

1 Peter 1:16 - Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Isiah 66:17They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, EATING SWINE’S FLESH, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

Pretty sure Isiah is including you here. Something for you to think about, OR NOT.

Some Will Depart from the Faith

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Do try to catch up, Phil.

You are kidding, right? Or were the 7th Day Adventists brought out of Egypt by the LORD?

The SDA cultist does not comprehend the Grace of God in Christ, so it does not understand the plan of salvation, still swallowing the SDA poison of works to achieve eternal life. Reasoning with such a darkened mind does not work. Why? Because the spirit within them twists scripture as soon as it is heard, to support the twisted lies of the cult. We are getting an excellent exhibition of that very phenomenon! And it is so sure of its lies that it refuses to see even a glimmer of the truth you will offer.

“And it is so sure of its lies that it refuses to see even a glimmer of the truth you will offer.”

Sadly, MHG, you are correct. I see the scripture twisting and I got an earful of it from the sermon he linked. I don’t want or need to see more.

I would say, if one does not comprehend the grace of God, or understand the plan of salvation, it’s because they are unsaved. When I was a Catholic, I was a lost, hell bound sinner, completely spiritually blind. I could not comprehend my lost, hell bound status. I did later, of course.

——>“45For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt,”
You are kidding, right? Or were the 7th Day Adventists brought out of Egypt by the LORD?

You seem to have missed the most important part, and the whole point of the verse.

45For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

TO BE YOUR GOD...YE SHALL THEREFORE BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.

God is reminding a people (His people) that have been in captivity for about 400 years, and had forgotten God (and His laws), that He is the one that performed miracle after miracle, and led them out of Egypt, that He is their God.

And therefore, God is Holy, because He is God, NOT BECAUSE HE DELIVERED THEM FROM EGYPT.

Verse 44: For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves (be set apart), and ye shall be holy; for I am holy:

Eating unclean meat is a defiling act. It is an abomination unto the Lord. It always has been, and always will be. It is a sin.

1 Peter 1:16 is a DIRECT REFERENCE to Leviticus 11:44

“Be Holy, for I am Holy”

There is no chance on this earth that you are right about any of it. To make matters worse, you are instructing/teaching others to break God’s commandments. That is LAWLESSNESS.

Regarding 1 Tim 4:1-5

https://www.churchathome.com/pdf/are_gods_laws_of_unclean_meats_upheld_under_the_new_covenant.pdf

Are God’s Laws of Clean and Unclean Meats Upheld Under the New Covenant? Three New Testament passages are often quoted as “proof” that the Old Testament prohibitions against “unclean” meats have been nullified. But is this true? I Timothy 4:1¬-5—Did Paul Teach that All Meat is Good for Food? There is no question that the apostle Paul believed—and thus taught—“all things that are written in the Law and the Prophets” (Acts 24:14). This certainly included God’s commands concerning clean and unclean meats (as found in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14). But main¬ stream Christianity insists that Paul relaxed the biblical injunction against unclean meats. They often site I Timothy 4:1¬-5, which is misleading in the KJV: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doc¬trines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; for¬ bidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.”

Here, Paul warns Timothy of an apostasy to occur in the end times—which would involve various “doctrines of demons.” One such “doctrine” commands abstinence from certain meats—which Paul counters by apparently saying that all meat is good for food, that nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving.

But is this really what Paul is saying? Is Paul upending centuries of adherence to Old Testament food laws?

Note first that this particular “doctrine” refers specifically to abstaining from meat that was “created to be received.” Conversely, this substantiates that there are other meats which were not “created to be received.” Indeed, God created meats which were never designed to be food—thus they are termed unclean. But clean meats were created to be received as food with thanksgiving. Thus, the passage is not dealing with meat in general, but only with clean meats— those “created to be received with thanksgiving.”

Next, note that the meat being discussed has been “sanctified by the word of God.” Where in the Bible is meat particularly sanctified—set apart—for human consumption? Why, obviously, Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14, which lists meats to be avoided and those to be eaten. Thus, Paul did not say that every kind of meat was created by God for food—but that every clean meat was created by God for food.

Without question, Paul upheld the laws of clean and unclean meats as a requirement for Christians. He described the meats that Christians are permitted to eat as those which God has “created to be received with thanksgiving.” Paul was actually condemning a false doctrine that prohibited the eating of clean meats. The correct translation helps resolve the matter:

“Now the Spirit tells us explicitly that in the latter times some shall apostatize from the faith, and shall follow deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons; speaking lies in hypocrisy, their consciences having been cauterized with a hot iron; forbidding to marry; and commanding to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by the faithful, even by those who know the truth. For every creature of God designated for human consumption is good, and nothing to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is [already] sanctified [set apart] by the Word of God [in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14] and prayer.” (Please note how The Holy Bible In Its Original Order—A Faithful Version incorporates inserted words and phrases in italic type in the appropriate places to make the intended meaning clear. All such insertions are based fully on the contextual meaning of the passage.)

Paul adds that clean meats are also set apart by prayer. Indeed, we have Christ’s own ex¬ ample of asking for God’s blessing on our food (Luke 9:16; 24:30; etc.). This further sets the food apart as approved and even enhanced by God—but in no way can prayer make unclean meat clean.

Unclean animals were not created to be eaten by man, there is no way that God can ever sanctify something He explicitly condemns as an abomination (Lev. 11).

We may eat the meat of every clean sanctified creature of God. God never sanctified the flesh of unclean creatures as ‘food’ or ‘meat.’ We therefore cannot sanctify through prayer that which is not sanctified as food or meat by the word of God.

Leviticus 20:

22Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out.

23And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

24But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people.

25Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.

26And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

GOT IT?

Amazing. You turn the word of God into whatever you want it to say just like the preacher in the sermon you posted on this thread. While you take your organization at its word, I’ll take God at His word.

With regard to “First Peter,” you may want to start at the beginning and notice his targeted audience: “1Pe 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia ...”

Whom do you believe those strangers to be? To whom was Peter sent? What about Paul? Do you think the Apostle Peter is speaking of 7th Day Adventists? No? Well, they’re certainly not any other Gentiles because they were never scattered. They were already at home. Were they Jews-turned-7th Day Adventists?

If you understand the opening, the rest of it will make a lot more sense to you. (Can you name which are the “Hebrew Epistles?”)

What does the Apostle Paul teach about foods? You keep rejecting the Gospel of Grace for the Law. Like I’ve said before, Phil, that’s your choice. Good luck. And good luck on Judgment Day explaining your trodding underfoot the blood of Christ Jesus.

P.S. With regard to your “Isaiah” post claiming that the text was referring to me eating unclean food, another fail. You are going backwards (falling back), Phil. Can you not even discern the targeted audience of Isaiah? Seriously? When did God give the law of unclean meats to the Gentiles? When, Phil?

See? You are ridiculous in your posts, Phil. Do you honestly believe Leviticus is for you?

You have been so twisted by your organization that you have no sense of direction in the scriptures at all. It’s so sad to see what’s been done to you because I know there are thousands more just as ignorant.

YOU ARE NOT A JEW. Maybe that will sink in one of these days.
