Then how did the thief on on the cross go to heaving? He was not baptized?
Seriously you are reading way more into that verse which will always get people in trouble. Jesus does not say in that verse that is what is required for salvation.
There are MANY ceremonies G-d ordained in the Bible, NONE of them are a gateway to heaven!
If baptism confers grace then Christ’s death was not enough to receive salvation, THAT IS A HERASY! That is requiring more than the death on the cross to receive his salvation.
I would caution everyone not to treat the Bible as a book of magic spells.
I would also caution everyone about treating traditional Christian acts such as baptism and communion as a ritual.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me.”
We’d be wise to seek Jesus with our hearts for salvation and maintain a daily fellowship with Him. Baptism won’t save you. Communion won’t save you.
Repenting of your sins to Jesus for forgiveness and welcoming Him into your heart saves you. Living a daily walk with Him saves you.

The problem with religion is that too many people treat it as a superstition.
You are literally implying Christs death on the cross was not enough, you are calling it an uncompleted work and adding the requirement of baptism as well in order to receive our Lord’s grace. Something easily refuted biblically. One example I mentioned earlier in the thief on the cross.
Also others in the old testament as ALL the saints before Christ’s death eventually went to heaven after his resurrections because of there faith in Him, and NONE were baptized.

if you want to believe infant baptisms saves people go ahead, but to say a person can give salvation to another is ridiculous, the apostles were to teach all nations and yes baptizing them- scripturally by immersion at an age of understanding after they called on Jesus to save them.
Acts 2:41-Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
salvation always comes before baptism, baptism is a public testimony of what has taken place in a persons heart.

All a catholic baptism does is make a babys head wet. You cant mark the soul with water. Its by faith someone comes to God. There is no such thing as holy water.
The problem with people is that for too many, superstition is all they can handle.

Understand the original purpose and meaning of baptism in scripture and the catholic dogma that has added through the centuries blows my mind. For instance, illegitimate babies were not baptised unless the mother named the father during the middle ages. Also, as recently as the 19th century, no baby was baptised during Lent.
Such an obsession with the “community” in the post-Vatican II Church. The arrogance of this priest: I know better than the Church, I’m smarter than Her.

Can’t help but wonder how they’re going to track down adults who may have received the “wrong words” at baptism as an infant.

Though I read that more as a point that we need to always forgive than as a literal rule
With all due respect, that bible passage is about us forgiving each other.
My question stands unanswered.
Many a true- hearted parent hoped that their child would chose right, only to realize the child will decide for themselves.
Infant baptism is meaning less to the infant and when he comes of age he will often think the parents presumptuous.
Same idea as expecting a child to become a rock star, pro athlete or rocket surgeon only to see the child desire to become a house painter and be happy.
If a blind man couldn’t see Jesus or know him, yet still be healed by him, similarly a baptism by Jesus can still save someone who doesn’t know Jesus yet.
Apples and oranges. Nobody “knows” Jesus until they’re born again (redeemed). An infant does not have experience of “knowing” anything about what’s going on, as far as redemption, baptism, believing, etc. In order to be redeemed, you have to be aware of your sin and repent. An infant cannot do that.
As far as using one wrong word, it’s absurd. If an adult is being baptized, if they’ve been properly instructed as to what baptism is, it’s their act of obedience; THAT’S what counts.
