CHAPTER 15:1-6

After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision:

“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

But Abram said, “O Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless? You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”

Then the word of the LORD came to him: “A son coming from your own body will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

ABRAM BELIEVED THE LORD, AND HE CREDITED IT TO HIM
AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

CHAPTER 4:18-25

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but ALSO FOR US,
to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
HE WAS DELIVERED OVER TO DEATH FOR OUR SINS AND WAS RAISED TO LIFE FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION.

Speaking from experience?

I use a Bob Ross brush flicking method.
Flick the paint knife with the brush spraying it onto the canvas.
I paint a bit as a hobby...happy trees and all that.
I enjoy these threads.

I like 22, that starry sky is crazy.

I am an amateur astronomer, if you haven’t guessed that already. In years past, after setting up my telescope out in the country away from city lights, I would wait impatiently for it to get dark- and then I would see starry vistas similar to what Abraham must’ve seen.
Even though the skies today can never be as dark as Abraham’s were, I look up and thank God for what he did, and for allowing me to see His Heavenly Handiwork!
He created all things great and small, and from the smallest grain of sand to the Heavens themselves, I marvel at what He has done.
What better way is there for Him to remind us that He is everywhere?
I look up at the sky and think, “This is what God did! This is what He did!

I am NO Abraham, but it is humbling to try to imagine what he saw.
I can’t wait to get back out there again.

The last few years have been frustrating, with COVID, I was laid up last year for a while, and where we live now really isn’t astronomy friendly- too many street lights and trees. PLUS I’m afraid that if I try setting any equipment up, I might be accused of being a peeping Tom!
Even out in the country, we must be careful. Not only 4-legged creatures to be aware of, but 2-legged as well. At one time our dark sky site was a county forest preserve, which we had permission to be in. The locals in the area saw a a few red flashlights out in the middle of the clearing and surmised that we were
devil worshippers, of all things! We don’t go there anymore. The red flashlights were for reading our star charts!

Out west here we have wide-open spaces where those issues don’t arise. Even the urban areas are but a half-hour from solitude.

Number 9 is fascinating. To me, almost like the stars were painted after the two figures of Christ and Abraham, as the stars are overlayed (?)

I really like this subject, some of the best times in life are simply gazing at creation, the thoughts in Abraham’s head must have been glorious.

9, 11 & 12 appeal to me. 12 has Abraham sitting amongst the trees in a high place…the perfect location for meditation on God, His creation and His word.
