The last few years have been frustrating, with COVID, I was laid up last year for a while, and where we live now really isn’t astronomy friendly- too many street lights and trees. PLUS I’m afraid that if I try setting any equipment up, I might be accused of being a peeping Tom!
Even out in the country, we must be careful. Not only 4-legged creatures to be aware of, but 2-legged as well. At one time our dark sky site was a county forest preserve, which we had permission to be in. The locals in the area saw a a few red flashlights out in the middle of the clearing and surmised that we were
devil worshippers, of all things! We don’t go there anymore. The red flashlights were for reading our star charts!
Out west here we have wide-open spaces where those issues don’t arise. Even the urban areas are but a half-hour from solitude.
