Good morning, Dan. :-)
And to you, Mary-Lou!
Melchizedek was king of Salem and a high priest at the same time.
Salem, also previously known as Jebus, became Jebus-Salem, and eventually, Jerusalem..................
Than you. Your selections do not disappoint.
Melchizedek is an interesting figure in the Bible.
Glad you approve, Debbie.
He was one of a kind.
Indeed...very interesting.
Wonderful page today! Paintings, mosaics, tapestries, sculptures, stained glass windows...always appreciated.
#4, from the splendid frescoes in San Gimignano Duomo by Bartolo di Fredi, one of the most popular masters in Siena in the second half of the fourteenth century. The flatter decorative compositions are reminiscent of the art of Simone Martini and Duccio di Buoninsegna.
I found Fredi's to be interesting, too.
He is interesting because he is shrouded in much mystery…for a figure of stature that he is compared with the Son of God (as a High Priest-King) to have been covered in so limited a manner in the scripture is quite remarkable. Minor figures get more ink! He is there for just this brief time with the great Patriarch.
Abraham had an amazing life on this Earth and came into contact with some very remarkable people and events.
The world pivoted around Noah physically, but it pivots around Abraham spiritually--because he believed God, Who credited it to him as righteousness.
