Cancelling all forms of religion centered around supernatural beings IS party business. All governments, to a greater or lesser degree, are in competition with organized religion, and will seize upon sometimes very flimsy excuses to persecute and restrict the practice of that religion, or co-opt it entirely, making it part of the state and subservient to the regime in power.
One of the great strengths of the US Constitution is a “hands-off” policy, enshrined in the First Amendment, in that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Up to now, this has sort of stayed the heavy hand of government from swooping in and persecuting any number of cults and sects, but that is rapidly eroding. Nobody reads or follows the Constitution to the degree it ought to be carried out in our daily lives.
A Mussolini today might say:

I lived in Sichuan province as recently as 2019 and I had no trouble attending a Christian Church. It’s true that underground churches are shut down by authorities. But this seems more Christian friendly than, say, Saudi Arabia. Finally, understand that Falun Gong is the worst sort of cult.
Organized religion like any other organized group is an existential threat to the CCP.

Since 2019 as I understand it the CCP has begun a serious crackdown on the Church; if you find one, you would more likely hear a sermon about the wonders of the CCP than the Lord.

The article does not say that you are not allowed to worship in a Christian Church. Any church is allowed as long as it is not seen as being a threat to the CCP.
Hence, the message of the Pastor better be carefully edited to even insinuate that there is any “Lord” who is above the CCP.
