Be convinced of these 4 biblical truths: 1. Each of us has sinned; 2. God is just, requiring a punishment for sin; 3. But out of love God sent His Son, Jesus Christ who by dying on the cross, provided forgiveness of sins in taking man’s deserved punishment; 4. Therefore, by faith alone in Christ’s sacrifice for our sins and belief in His resurrection, man can gain eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 3:21-26)
Only by some.
I fear it’s an acquired taste, sometimes not even sipped at home.
I wonder which is worse?
To just ignore the words of Jesus found in Scripture, or to spin reasons NOT to obey them?
Strange that the CATHOLIC CHURCH, found in Acts 15, told people to AVOID blood.
Yet HE did NOT tell that doubting fellow to lick his fingers after placing them into HIS wounds.
Exactly right.
Jesus never told anyone they were saved through His blood and that they were free to go on sinning by their choices.
Repentance plays a key role in Salvation and involves recognizing that you have thought wrongly in the past and determining to think rightly in the future. The repentant person has “second thoughts” about the mindset he formerly embraced. There is a change of disposition and a new way of thinking about God, about sin, about holiness, and about doing God’s will. True repentance is prompted by “godly sorrow,” and it “leads to salvation” (2 Corinthians 7:10).
What, then, is the connection between repentance and Salvation? The book of Acts especially focuses on repentance in regard to Salvation (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 11:18; 17:30; 20:21; 26:20). To repent, in relation to Salvation, is to change your mind regarding sin and Jesus Christ.
In Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost (Acts chapter 2), he concludes with a call for the people to repent (Acts 2:38). Repent from what? Peter is calling the people who rejected Jesus (Acts 2:36) to change their minds about that sin and to change their minds about Christ Himself, recognizing that He is indeed “Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). Peter is calling the people to change their minds, to abhor their past rejection of Christ, and to embrace faith in Him as both Messiah and Savior.
This notion that Salvation is "free" is incorrect. Jesus paid a heavy price for our Salvation. Calling Salvation a "free gift" diminishes Christ's sacrifice.
Like Rome 'proved' that the 95 items nailed to the church door were false?
HMMMmmm... the way that Rome finally admitted its error and created the COUNTER Reformation??
Maybe yours is, but Christ's mother admitted to sin; or else was a hypocrite for doing so!
Except some are sanctioned by the bible and some are not...Want to guess which ones are not???
But really...You care to share some of those ancient references of distinction in the vein of Paul's missionary identity in the bible...I don't remember seeing any...In fact,
Mat 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
Luk 22:24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
Luk 22:25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
Luk 22:26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
Luk 22:27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth. ..(NOT as one who looks for a title of distinction...)
And that is what you teach Catholics and are trying to hoodwink us into believing...
I did find one example tho...Is this to what you are referring???
Act 8:9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
Act 8:10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
Act 8:11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
Looks like the first Catholic Father...
"For though you might have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers. Indeed, in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel."Which for 1900 years we knew that when St. PAUL proclaimed himself a Father to his converts, it was not a biological reference - nor one that was usurping the glory of God the Father in Heaven.
You told us what it wasn't but you didn't tell us what it was...
What's funny is you Catholics will single out a verse or even part of a verse, and build on it...You rely completely on your human wisdom (human philosophy)...Paul had a couple of things to say about that...I think Paul even instructed us to study the scriptures, not, human philosophy...
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Job 32:21 Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
1Co 9:1 Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
1Co 9:2 If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.
1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Gal 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Gal 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
2Co 6:13 Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged.
You might notice that Paul always referenced the real father as God...Paul taught and spoke to these people as a father would speak to his children, while at the same time telling us and everyone else to 'Call No Man Father' to make sure someone didn't get the false idea that anyone held a religious person in some sort of distinction...Your Catholic priest hold such a high distinction it is taught that they turn into Jesus himself at confession and at your Mass services...That's a no no...
A little bit of bible clears up a whole mess of things...
That is really a vague, broad, wide open statement unless you know the context in which it came from...
Here is some more ECF data for you to ignore.
At what book and chapter in the bible did you stop reading at???
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Any different than this???
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Its part of Phil’s where’s waldo game. He posts a passage without citing the Book or chapter. He is a ‘drag and paste’ where’s waldo gamer.
And the words of the apostle Paul, who was commissioned to create the Gentile church you are likely a member of, and who was directly inspired by Jesus to write the 'church epistles' of the bible AFTER he was risen from the grave seem non existent to you...
You figure anything Jesus taught the Jews who killed him prior to his Crucifixion supersedes any thing Jesus intsructed Paul to teach to the Gentile church he was given responsibility for???
Ya know, the Mormon cult members are at least proud enough of their cult to admit to membership. Some cultists know in their heart that they are not in a Christian org so they try to stealthily teach Christians ‘the error of their ways’.
I used to be part of it. 👎 I got evangelized. 😁 Thank God for that. 👍
Of course...But is a spiritual command, not a physical one...
Joh 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
If verse 53 is literal and physical, so then is verse 35...So instead of foaming at the mouth explain that one...
If you insist your points are true tell me:
1. Where is Purgatory in the Bible?
2. Where does The Lord state we need to pray to Mary in the Bible?
3. Mass? Really? A ceremony is needed to please God?
4. Dead “saints” can hear our prayers?
5. The theology for a “pope”? And don’t try to use Matthew 16:18 for your justification for it. Jesus was declaring War on Satan with that verse stated on Mt. Hermon and less than a week later He was crucified for it.
Scripture and Verses for all points or it’s FALSE...
Uh oh, now you’ve done it! Roman Catholic ORG deflection or ignore in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1
HaHaHa...
