The New York Times bestselling author of The Benedict Option draws on the wisdom of Christian survivors of Soviet persecution to warn American Christians of approaching dangers.
For years, émigrés from the former Soviet bloc have been telling Rod Dreher they see telltale signs of "soft" totalitarianism cropping up in America--something more Brave New World than Nineteen Eighty-Four. Identity politics are beginning to encroach on every aspect of life. Civil liberties are increasingly seen as a threat to "safety". Progressives marginalize conservative, traditional Christians, and other dissenters.
I agree with both of you and do not find the two positions mutually exclusive.
Having studied Jesus, but also Gandhi King, Lincoln, ..... I am a non-violent person as I realize that evil fears Love & Light much more than violence.

Putting this on my list!
And if I may, because it looks like an amazing read, I just received a surprise gift today that is relevant to this thread.
A two volume book-set from the EPOCH TIMES, “How the Specter of Communism is ruling the world”.
A strategic retreat can sometimes make sense. The Christian position is normally offense though. Our enemy would like us to be hidden in caves if alive at all.
I do agree that the first thing to do is see the truth. Religious persecution is in the move. The homosexual agenda is a club they use, in the name of rights, to marginalize and destroy Christians as “haters.” The lockdown has been used to deny us basic civil liberties, most notably the right to worship, evangelize, disciple.
Time to pull out The Naked Communist and read it again.
Here are some recommended books to prepare yourself for persecution:
Foxes Book of Martyrs
Martyrs Mirror (1200+ pages. There are smaller versions)
Vanya (Myrna Grant)
Tortured for his Faith (Popov)
I Am N (Voice of the Martyrs)
Night of the Long Knives (Steven)
A Sword Over the Nile (Guindy)
The Persecutor (Sergei Kourdakov)
The Nazi Persecution of the Churches (Conway)
Suffering, Martyrdom and Rewards in Heaven (Joseph Ton)
I haven’t read that one. Thanks.
My reading time is mostly here and there. But will be trying harder again to dedicate more time. I ebb and flow a lot from feeling helpless to being educated and making some difference. Like a continual cycle.
