Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them...
Jesus Christ gave us His Olivet Discourse to explain the signs signalling his immanent return. He warned that we will not know the day or the hour of His return, however we will know the general time (Matt 24:33). He likens those who hear him to young brides waiting for their bridegroom. Jesus being he bridegroom and his believers being the ladies in waiting. This exclusive group is made up only of those who have confessed Christ and go out expectantly to meet him. [...] We are the virgins…
2 Corinthians 11:2 "…for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ."
Who are these believers in Jesus Christ? Muslims, who reject the biblical Jesus as God in the flesh, and relegate him to a prophet who exchanged places with Judas on the cross? Hindus, who believe Jesus is one of many gods? Buddhists, who believe Jesus is one of many prophets of Nirvana, or Nothingness? Atheists, who claim that Jesus Christ is either fictional or a lunatic? Heavens no! Most of the world rejects Jesus Christ and his words, except Christians.
Something happens as the Christians wait for the Bridegroom. He delays his coming. So much so that the night comes. What is the night? The “night” in Biblical Typology represents the Great Tribulation (1 Thessalonians 5:2, Isaiah 60:2, John 9, etc.) This is the last 3.5 to 7 years before Jesus Christ returns physically to rule and reign from Jerusalem...

You and the Catholic Cronos are two sides of the same counterfeit coin.
Your lamp is filled with sand and you continue to break the law of God. So, maybe you should get off your high horse and humble yourself. It might do you some good.
Right. The evil catholic meme. I could have seen that coming from a mile away.what is next? The awful adventures of Maria Monk?

Of course, like modern anri catholic historians, you probably blame a lot of political murders on the church or churches. But others are playing the same game, against all believers, so better watch out...

The rapture was taught before - long before - MacDonald.
As has been discussed more times on FR than I remember.
1. Darby began to write about a pre-trib Rapture in the 1820’s *before MacDonald* supposedly had her vision.
2. MacDonald’s statement has nothing about a pre-trib rapture. It’s more a partial rapture and even post-trib rapture.
3. Irenaeus (A.D. 120-202), taught a pre-millennial view, that Jesus would literally return and set up his earthly kingdom here on earth for a literal 1000 years, a 7-year tribulation and a rapture.
“And therefore, when in the end the Church shall be suddenly caught up from this, it is said, “There shall be tribulation such as has not been since the beginning, neither shall be.” For this is the last contest of the righteous, in which, when they overcome they are crowned with incorruption.”
Ergo, the assertion that a pre-trib Rapture wasn’t taught for 1800 years is false. More could be discussed, but this suffices to disprove the claim in the article you linked.
And Epharaem the Syrian (306 AD - 373 AD) wrote of a rapture, as MHGinTN pointed out earlier.
That the doctrine was eclipsed by Rome believing they were the kingdom in earth is not strange. It took God using Luther to recover the Gospel of grace, the core message of the Christian Church.., and the message that leads to salvation.
Darby got his information from Margret MacDonald; he used her writing of her vision to form this Rapture thing.
By whom? When? What era?
How many times will the answer to your question must be posted so that you actually read the replies? I, for one, am surprised at your willful denial of facts posted to you, and saddened by such, also. I thought better of you, Janey. Are you seven day Adventist cultist like Philsworld? You have been shown by whom, in what era, and yet you ask the same question already answered in more than one post on this very thread. If the instruments in your plane indicate that you are losing altitude, do you ignore the instruments because you don’t want to lose altitude?
Totally false.
Darby was teaching the rapture *before* MacDonald claimed to have a vision.
Beyond that, the teaching of a rapture predated MacDonald by more tha 1,000 years.
Best
Everything those people said they were talking about the 2nd. Coming, not some sort of Rapture that comes AFTER the verses that talk about the 2nd. Coming; it’s like counting: 12435 - the Rapture happening after the 2nd Coming???
1. Not so. Read again.
2. The timing of the rapture is a different issue than whether a rapture was taught before MacDonald (it was).
Don’t move the goalposts.
You mischaracterize what I post regarding the Rapture through your own PROJECTION...
Every true Christian will face persecution no matter what, when, or where they live. Persecution will not go away. The difference is that Anti-Rapturists cannot understand the difference between persecution and God’s Judgement, which is exactly what we are promised from God to not be a part of.
Revelation 3:10 states it very clearly.
God’s treatment of Noah and Lot are other examples. You could also make a case for Daniel being an example of not being subject to Judgement but his enemies were. Enoch is another one that is conveniently forgotten.
Here’s another true reason that even apostates and rapture deniers would have to agree with that whether a Rapture happens or not, the Tribulation is right around the corner.
Have you ever read Revelation?
If so, you know that the technology it discusses in “the Latter days” is something that the Apostles and their contemporaries could never fathom. However, that technology is here today!
1. The tracking of all buying & selling of everybody
2. Events that the world sees live simultaneously
3. Israel back in the world as a nation again
All of those are noted in Revelation and the Book of Daniel. We are that generation! And the above is just for starters. You can look at the coalition for Ezekiel 38/39 that attacks Israel in the latter days. Funny, they are in talks right now for the first time in history as “allies”. Then you have a yet to happen event in Isaiah 17:1. That could happen any day now.
I am encouraging True Christians to stay the course, keep their heads up, and look for their Savior. Regardless of what you believe and your personal timelines - HE IS COMING very soon! All those who look forward to His Coming, will receive a crown. I look forward to that.
Even so, Come Lord Jesus!
Maranatha!
It's almost humorous that Catholicism, for example, condemns believers in the Rapture but opens wide her arms for just about any claim of Marian apparitions, visions and dreams of "saints", mysterious powers of inanimate objects and so forth.
Ridiculous also is the accusation that believing in the Rapture of Christ's bride before the Tribulation is somehow "cheating" past martyrs of Christianity - as if there aren't millions of believers who have died natural deaths and entered into the joy of the Lord because of the grace of God through faith. Are they not allowed heaven because they haven't suffered enough??? Why in the time where the wrath of Almighty God is poured out upon the unbelieving, totally evil world would He want the Bride to experience that same wrath? Nobody denies that there has been terrible persecution of Christians since Christianity began and that Satan desires to sift us like wheat, but this will be different. For the first 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation, those who come to believe in Jesus as the promised Messiah will be hunted down and killed for their faith, that is what Scripture tells us will happen. But it is in the second half that God's righteous anger is poured out upon the earth. It's not Satan who will be pouring out the judgements.
Anyway, if someone doesn't want to believe in the Rapture, nobody says they HAVE TO! I won't condemn someone if they think differently about it. We will see who is right and who got it wrong one day and if it happens like I think it will, there'll be a number of shocked and happily surprised people I'll wave at as we make our way up to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we always be with the Lord. If it doesn't happen, then I will remain faithful because it is God who is working within us conforming us into the image of Christ. He is the author and perfecter of our faith. Either way we are His own and He will never leave us or forsake us so we can say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
AMEN!
Preach it, sister!
The fact is that the Catholic church has tortured and murdered more people than any other institution on the face of this earth since the beginning of Creation. Add to that, they are also the Antichrist/Beast/Little Horn/Man of Sin, power.
http://www.alphanewsdaily.com/Number-of-Protestants-Killed-By-Popes.html
“That the Church of Rome has shed more innocent blood than any other institution that has ever existed among mankind, will be questioned by no Protestant who has a competent knowledge of history. The memorials, indeed, of many of her persecutions are now so scanty, that it is impossible to form a complete conception of the multitude of her victims, and it is quite certain that no power of imagination can adequately realize their sufferings.” — “History of the Rise and Influence of the Spirit of Rationalism in Europe,” Vol. II, p. 32. London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1910.
I also watched the lecture you recommended, by Professor Alec Ryrie, titled Spain’s Black Legend”. He estimates/quotes the executions/murders in the low thousands, which is historically ridiculous.
