Guest Op-Ed: 500th anniversary of the excommunication of arch-heretic, Martin Luther

This Sunday, January 3, 2021, is the 500th anniversary of the excommunication of Martin Luther as a heretic and schismatic – the greatest damage ever done to the Holy Catholic Church. He died unrepentant, without the sacraments and outside the One True Church.

Yes, Pope Leo X, who issued the excommunication decree and the previous Exsurge Domine warning (6/15/1520) to Luther, had a mixed record of papal righteousness – but in this event he is nearly unsurpassed and fairly vindicated.

In this writer's view, these documents are two of the most formidable, necessary and courageous decrees emanating from the Chair of Peter, defending the Holy Roman Catholic Church from doctrinal attack. They were subsequently, fully upheld by the Council of Trent – also one of the greatest Councils in Church history – to which we owe very much, especially on the Eucharist!

We still face great danger. With Luther, there was no warning, just 95 absurd theses appearing out of thin air.

Here today, we had a warning in 1917 at Fatima. “Russia will spread her errors throughout the world,” did Our Lady alert the three children and us Catholics.

We feel these effects today – a far more serious warning than Luther. In full deference to Our Lady and the Most Holy Trinity – it is extremely doubtful (despite assertions to the contrary) that the full, correct Consecration to Russia was done; or that the decisive 3rd Secret text was totally revealed.

The errors, it is said, will lead to “The Great Apostasy.” There seems no appetite in the Vatican, at any level, to humbly accept and remedy those grave errors. Rather, a desire to hurtle into the future with Pachamama; Amazon Culture; ecology; and global secular solutions – as moral virtue is completely ignored and vocations and faithful Catholics disappear at record speeds.

Will the Church (and our Country) continue its decline? Will we still continue to receive God’s Divine Mercy and Graces? Are we due for a severe Divine Chastisement?

I am not going to advance an opinion here – only to charitably say, we would all do well to place our own souls in a state of grace, and urge our families, friends and others to do the same.

And Pray. God is very good.

“You shouldn’t talk. Your dispensationalist pre-trib Rapture cult isn’t scriptural either.”

This coming from someone that thinks GOD would have to wrestle or dispute anything with a created being such as satan, Jude 9.

“You two apparently missed the character of Martin Luther in the artist’s depiction of Hell.”

Nope didn’t miss anything, but due to your living according to the flesh can’t see godly things. It is a perspective thing that Scripture teaches and rome denies you can’t understand because satan has blinded you.

And THIS is coming from someone that can’t comprehend that another title of Jesus Christ is Michael the Archangel, which it clearly is. Many historical religious persons say it is. Mrobisr says “Nah, I’m right, they’re wrong. I’m smarter than all of them”

“Like this puzzle:”
Yes, exactly like that puzzle! That picture is exactly what the vatican and rome looks like Scripture even tells us that. Thanks for such a good pic to describe a verse in Scripture, perfect.

Revelation 18:2
And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.

Thanks. That quote applies to Luther’s revolt and that’s why Luther is portrayed in Hell.

“That quote applies to Luther’s revolt and that’s why Luther is portrayed in Hell.”

This verse (quote) applies to the roman church’s revolt against GOD and Jesus Christ’s Holy Word and why billions of romans will be in Hell.

Revelation 2
22 Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with plague, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

I’m not the one with stupid laughing monkeys, but I am the one with Holy Scripture on his side, so you do the math.

Sorry. You don’t own Scripture.

Luther also thought Scripture was on his “side”. Luther thought wrong.

“Sorry. You don’t own Scripture.”

Show me where I said I own Scripture.

“Luther also thought Scripture was on his “side”. Luther thought wrong.”

So did you go to hell to verify this because I know you haven’t seen heaven? I’m betting not yet, so please enlighten the world how you know the eternal location of ones soul.

I’ll be waiting with popcorn this should be fun.

Is Jesus Christ GOD in the flesh?

Of course He is. Is the Captain of the Lord’s hosts Jesus Christ? YES HE IS. It is another TITLE of Jesus Christ. Angel of the Covent? Jesus Christ. etc, etc, etc.....

Let me ask you a question. Didn’t you understand or listen to ANYTHING I wrote or linked to about Michael the Archangel, showing EXACTLY what my position was?

When Jesus promises that if we pray to the Father in His name, that God hears and answers our prayers, WHY would anyone even consider wasting time praying to anyone else?

It’s not like the someone else, like Mary according to Catholics, is going to give us an answer to out prayers that God Himself wouldn’t give us.

If God isn’t going to grant our request, it’s a sure bet that nobody else in heaven is going to go against His will and do it instead.

And if God is going to grant the request, then praying to someone else is useless.

If “GOD” needs Mary and all of the ‘saints’ to open His mail and read it first; where is His supposed Omnipotency?

You must be a true believer and follower of Satan, you mock the second greatest commandment that Jesus gave us. You believe that the saints in Heaven are dead and not alive and cannot pray to God on our behalf.

You ignore the prayers of the elders in Heaven for us.(Rev 11:16)

Jesus rebuked 6 of the 7 churches in Revelation as he gives all free will to accept or reject God. Jesus came to save sinners, but they must follow Him and not false prophets. The Catholic Church has dealt with many problems over the centuries and even today there are serious problems, but the Catholic Faith stands firm and Jesus stands with His Church.

Sardis is rebuked as spiritually dead (cf. 3:1–3), yet Jesus says, “Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy” (3:4). Even so, he calls this group “the church in Sardis” (3:1), just as he refers to all seven as “churches.”

Perhaps the 7 churches in Revelation are a forewarning of the multiple protestant churches that claim to be christian but follow false teachers and reject some of God’s revealed truths.

The biblical support for the concept of a Church containing sinners—yet remaining a true Church—is abundant. The parable of the wheat and weeds (cf. Matt. 13:24–30, 36–43) reads as if the weeds are at least equal in number to the wheat.

Perhaps you should consider your own beliefs that reject Christ’s Catholic Church, God’s revealed Truths Peter and successors as the leader of His Church on earth, the Eucharist, some of the Sacraments, etc and reject the perpetual virginity, immaculate conception and Assumption of His Blessed Mother into Heaven.

Following heretical beliefs of sola scriptura, sola fide, absolute assurance of heaven for an altar call from false teachers and heretics, I believe will be rebuked by Jesus when they die.

My question why would one choose to reject the Church Christ founded for our salvation to follow a man made (inspired by Satan) theory that rejects some of God’s revealed truths?

As indicated in Revelation and other verses God realizes that man is a sinner and there is corruption in His Church because men are sinners, Jesus assured us that he would be with His Church until the end of the age.

Your comment: “Stop with the Scripture quotes because praying to any dead mortal isn’t found one time in the Holy Scriptures. Since you want to use Scripture to defend your position give me just one verse that shows a living mortal praying to a dead mortal, just one ADSUM... JUST ONE”

I guess you don’t understand scripture from previous post:
Your false belief that saints in Heaven are dead. Perhaps you can read Mt 27:52. “the tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised”. Perhaps you should read about the Transfiguration.

Saints (their souls) in Heaven are alive as Jesus conquered death with his Resurrection. You can read Rom 8;11-12 that Christ will give life to your mortal bodies.

“Pray for one another” “The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects.” James 5:16

Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.” I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob... He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” Mt 22

But as Scripture indicates, those in heaven are aware of the prayers of those on earth. This can be seen, for example, in Revelation 5:8, where John depicts the saints in heaven offering our prayers to God under the form of “golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” But if the saints in heaven are offering our prayers to God, then they must be aware of our prayers.

God expects us to pray for one another. We see this in both the Old and New Testaments. Gen 20:7; Job 42:8; Romans 15:30-32; James 5:16-17

The saints in Heaven are part of the Body of Christ and are righteous, and Jesus told us to pray for one another.

May you find God’s Peace in His Truth and the prayers of the saints.
