Guest Op-Ed: 500th anniversary of the excommunication of arch-heretic, Martin Luther

This Sunday, January 3, 2021, is the 500th anniversary of the excommunication of Martin Luther as a heretic and schismatic – the greatest damage ever done to the Holy Catholic Church. He died unrepentant, without the sacraments and outside the One True Church.

Yes, Pope Leo X, who issued the excommunication decree and the previous Exsurge Domine warning (6/15/1520) to Luther, had a mixed record of papal righteousness – but in this event he is nearly unsurpassed and fairly vindicated.

In this writer's view, these documents are two of the most formidable, necessary and courageous decrees emanating from the Chair of Peter, defending the Holy Roman Catholic Church from doctrinal attack. They were subsequently, fully upheld by the Council of Trent – also one of the greatest Councils in Church history – to which we owe very much, especially on the Eucharist!

We still face great danger. With Luther, there was no warning, just 95 absurd theses appearing out of thin air.

Here today, we had a warning in 1917 at Fatima. “Russia will spread her errors throughout the world,” did Our Lady alert the three children and us Catholics.

We feel these effects today – a far more serious warning than Luther. In full deference to Our Lady and the Most Holy Trinity – it is extremely doubtful (despite assertions to the contrary) that the full, correct Consecration to Russia was done; or that the decisive 3rd Secret text was totally revealed.

The errors, it is said, will lead to “The Great Apostasy.” There seems no appetite in the Vatican, at any level, to humbly accept and remedy those grave errors. Rather, a desire to hurtle into the future with Pachamama; Amazon Culture; ecology; and global secular solutions – as moral virtue is completely ignored and vocations and faithful Catholics disappear at record speeds.

Will the Church (and our Country) continue its decline? Will we still continue to receive God’s Divine Mercy and Graces? Are we due for a severe Divine Chastisement?

I am not going to advance an opinion here – only to charitably say, we would all do well to place our own souls in a state of grace, and urge our families, friends and others to do the same.

And Pray. God is very good.

Nothing hits the spot like one of the classics.

Did you get permission from the Master to repost it?

Tomorrow is the 500th year anniversary of the arch-heretic’s excommunication.

Proverbs 24:17-18 KJV

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth,
and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him,
and he turn away.

But faith is works.

I think this may hinge on what 'is' is.

Word games. Here is how you can see the trap. If you don’t do the works, you go to H3ll.

Works without faith is dead, but while the two go together, the issue is that it is not the works themselves that appropriate justification, but the faith that effects such. Yet since they go together, is can be said that works justify in the sense that obedience by the Spirit is faith in action and manifest that one is a believer of living, complete faith. (cf. James 2:17-26) But not that works themselves actually merit justification (as many Catholics believe) for "to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Romans 4:5) Nor that as Rome teaches, one must become actually good enough to be with God in Heaven.

Trying to make James teach that works merit justification means that he is contradicting both Moses and Paul, versus Abrahamic-type regenerating, heart-purifying, effectual faith being what appropriates justification, even before baptism (Acts 10:43-47; 15:7-9) which requires and expresses this faith.

(You twisted Mark 2 BTW.)

How so? It was faith that moved the Lord to work, and with forgiveness being the cause behind the effect (healing).

“Obedience by the Spirit” you say? Well I am gonna sit here for a while and see if the Spirit” decides to take out the trash. I don’t expect you to see it.

You won't since you are missing the "by" the Spirit and the manner of obedience that is unique to a believer (even as to cause), meaning it is thru the working of the Spirit that you are both enabled and motivation to not only repent and believe but to follow the Lord, and to do all to/purpose the glory of God. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Romans 8:14) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:12-13)

FReegards to you daniel1212. I often notice your posts and comments and alwats appreciate your fine contribution here! FR is a better place with you in it!

Glory to God for what is good, and it seems you are a lurker on the religion forum.

https://www.tektonics.org/ It’s the encrypted connection that’s different for me.

Encrypted or not, it is working on any of my browsers or on another rig running Linux. Comcast?

I understand what Luther did; I’m not defending him. Just pointing out that the Church itself vindicated him on some points.

“Martin Luther did more for the Kingdom of Heaven than anybody else since the Apostle Paul.”

The Catholic Church today has tremendous problems and obstacles, but has retained most of its core principles. Martin Luther himself would not even recognize what passes for “Lutheran” today; do you see any of his positions in it? Yet everyone professing that faith that has passed on has faced the final judgment; can they attain the Kingdom of Heaven? Many branches of Lutheranism allow openly gay clergy and “gay marriage”.

“Let us pray ans ask both Blessed Mother and Jesus”

This and other heresies are why you romans will enter the tribulation. Heresies like this is why all those folks 500 years ago read the Bible in their own language for the first time and left the roman church .

20But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her sexual immorality.

Many branches of Lutheranism allow openly gay clergy and “gay marriage”.

Get back to us when the Vatican weeds out its own homosexual, child molesting cabal of clergy.

While they in theory oppose gay clergy and homosexual marriage by what their *official* doctrine says, in practice they are even worse because of their handling of the multitude of reports of molestation by priests.

Nobody gives a rip what *official* doctrine is when in practice they show that they don’t either.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

104.197.209.149 is the correct DNS IP #....you tried flushing your DNS cache yet?
Then try using “1.1.1.1” as your DNS server instead of the Comcast DNS server.

If not working on multiple PC’s then it may be your modem/router.

Ping and Traceroute (Mac)/Tracert(Win) are not working too well on that destination IP (from here in CA)...lots of hops and slow server response for Tektonics.org (server located in CA)....maybe your browsers are “timing out” because you are further away? What is the error shown in the browser? “Time out” error?

Yup.

If not working on multiple PC’s then it may be your modem/router.

No,i am connect with Ethernet cable getting 100 Mbps.

What is the error shown in the browser? “Time out” error?

Yes. I just increased the time out to 120 sec. but still no load.

I will try a reboot of both the PC and Modem. Thanks for your help.

On the modem/router I didn’t mean it was a “speed” issue...I meant that if you have it set to “hand out” IP’s to your PC’s (DHCP turned on instead of a static private IP assigned by you i.e. 10.X. or 192.X) then it may have a DNS server issue separate from your PC’s.

I can get to it from multiple iPhone browsers.

Could you have a service that blocks certain IP addresses that are considered “dangerous?” People pollute those block lists, often.

Go to Startpage.com and put in the site name and see if it shows in the results. If it does and you can’t get there on the main link, click on the “proxy” link and that will bypass any IP blocker you have.

Did a modem reboot and PC system restore and reboot, and reloaded 257 tabs at once and found they all loaded (though about half did not load at first and and to be reloaded separately ) except https://www.tektonics.org/. I have my own host file and it was working just a few days ago. And despite speedtest.net showing 8ms 112.86 Ping, Mbps Download, and 6.08 Mbps Upload . I have talked to Comcast about their low upload speed but they cannot do better, and have a monopoly here. Thus since the Linux rig also will not load it then problem must be with the modem of Comcast. Need to contact them later today. Time to sleep. Thanks for the help.
