My understanding, as it has been explained to me, is that forgiveness is releasing a person from the debt they owe you for a wrong done to you.
Its like a legal contract thing, handing it off to God for Him to take care of.
It takes a great deal of the emotion out of it when theres a lot of anger and hurt.
Also, not all relationships can be restored, nor should they be. Forgiveness does not means putting yourself in a position to be sinned against again. This is particularly true in cases of abuse.
That does not address chelseys question.
Food for thought. One definition for forgiveness (not mine) is that forgiveness is no longer having an interest in that person for good or ill.
Basically, letting go.
Of course it does
My forgiveness of another does not necessarily restore any relationship
It is not about the other person. It is about my attitude toward another. God requires me to forgive
Trump,
“ Boasts,Lies and Cheats!”
Sounds like being a
False Witness.
Besides,
Forgiveness comes
From God,
Not a man.
The MOST sanctimonious thing I’ve ever read. And that’s saying a lot.
How about we stop posting anti Trump crap on FR?
National Catholic Reporter?
How many kids have been ruined by priests? A lot. What have they done to fix that?
What a bunch of hypocrites.
Ditto
He’s never done anything to new that needs forgiveness that I’m aware of. This guy talks about ‘forgiving’ DT for behavior that didn’t involve him. That’s some kinda hubris. May need to work on humility and missing his own business.
You people lie a lot. Maybe you should ask for fogiveness from us and your Maker. That is the ones that believe God.
