'The United States Navy, or the Department of Defense, will NOT be cancelling its contract with Catholic Priests who serve our men and women in the Armed Forces so well,' the president tweeted this morning.

September 9, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – President Donald Trump confirmed in a tweet this morning that the U.S. Navy has reversed course and decided to renew contracts with Catholic priests to celebrate Holy Mass on military bases. Trump praised the Catholic priests for their “great compassion & skill.”

“The United States Navy, or the Department of Defense, will NOT be cancelling its contract with Catholic Priests who serve our men and women in the Armed Forces so well, and with such great compassion & skill. This will no longer be even a point of discussion!” he wrote in a tweeted in which he tagged New York Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan.

Rear Adm. Bette Bolivar, the commander of Navy Region Southwest, announced the reversal of the plan to suspend most contracts for priests on Tuesday, reported the San Diego Union Tribune.

Vice Admiral Yancey Lindsey, the commander of Naval Installations Command, had previously stated about the original decision: “We have a responsibility to use our limited resources wisely in meeting the needs of our personnel. Therefore, we will reduce redundancies and capture efficiencies by realigning resources.”

The San Diego Union-Tribune, which first reported on the news, explained at the time that “religious services will be cut at bases where those services are readily available in the surrounding community outside the base.”

George Washington established the chaplain corp. That’s good enough for me.

A good chaplain is worth his weight in gold. Military life presents its own set of problems, which a good chaplain can really help.

The best chaplain I ever served with was a Franciscan Priest- everyone adored him. He was compassionate, caring, humble and able to express how military service was a worthy calling worth sacrifice.

The worst chaplain I served with was a Jesuit-he was a class A jerk. He acted like he was a combat leader and like to tell Marines how to do their job. He did not last very long.

Had Franciscans in the family. They are the best.

As a soldier in the mid-1980s the Army was adamant on nailing my feet to the floor on my faith. What should be on my dog tags should I pass? I chose Baptist with Catholic Last Rites (which I grew up with). Thought that was over-the-line until learning the Clintons let Islamist imams in and paid them our money for turning our soldiers into anti-American sleeper agents. A lot of dead soldiers and sailors would strongly disagree but still these “chaplains” remain taking our money.

Rear Adm. Bette Bolivar is the same woman who was taking bribes in Malaysia and then later took over prosecuting SEALS.

Our military leaders are no longer trustworthy.

It was because of a Navy Chaplain that my Dad became a Believer, at the age of 17, off the shores of Iwo Jima.

Just Sayin.
