A Brazilian pastor prayed to God to destroy the Jews like vermin and bring about a second Holocaust during a sermon in Rio de Janeiro.
Massacre the Jews, God, hit them with your sword, for they have left God, they have left the nations, Pastor Tupirani da Hora Lores shouted at dozens of congregants earlier this month at his Geracao Jesus Cristo church, a recording of the event shows. His congregants are heard repeating his words passionately.

They contrived, went with prostitutes, and when they were told to repent they said theyd do it but they lied, the pastor said,....
God, what you have done in World War II, you must do again, this is what we ask for in our prayers to you: Justice, justice, justice! da Hora Lores shouted at his church, a small and radical evangelical congregation.

Cronos, you just called me apply pappy..... that is a different FReeper.... I am APPLE PAN DOWDY.
Now to answer your post....
It is through Sola fide (faith) that we receive the gift of grace so that we might be saved. So I dont understand why Sola Fide is not important enough to list.
And of course your church (which, by the way is different from The Church) teaches Sola Gratia (grace).... and yes faith does lead to good works.... but again no one, not anyone can produce only good works, we all sin sometimes, or enough good works to justify us in Gods Eyes. Gods justice means perfect like Him. Thus he gives us the gift of Grace if we believe (faith in Jesus Christ).
Your Roman church does not teach that we are saved by Grace Alone, because that would mean that your Pope and other figure heads would have no power over you. But, my friend, when you accept Christ Alone the you will truly set FREE from that earthly power over your soul.
Cronos, No, Clearly, the context DOES NOT imply that born of water and the Spirit refers to baptism. Baptism is the symbolic rite of being born of water and spirit. That is why we do not Baptize our infants. They do not yet have the ability to have or express faith in Jesus Christ.
I could ask and go through a ceremony of Baptism.... but if I have not already professed faith then all the water and words of the ceremony will NOT mean anything.
People use the term *born against* as a pejorative, not realizing who said it first.
Then you don't, so we end up back to the point that the whole point of this thread was pot stirring and flame baiting.
So if you think that this rogue pastor who calls himself an evangelical represents all evangelicals, then you are forced into the corner of owning your pope, who was duly elected as the head of your church according to approved and sanctioned procedure thus making him the epitome of Catholicism.
Thanks for trying.
This is not the first time this has been explained to him. Time to shake off the dust.
Metmom — I never said that this evangelical pastor “represents all evangelicals” — go back and read this.
All the self-proclaimed evangelicals have been with the “No true evangelical” to dismiss this evangelical pastor.
My point - as I clearly stated is that “Evangelical” is a wide term that has only the solas and the stated emphasis (note: stated) emphasis on the “born again” that distinguishes them from other groups outside Orthodoxy. But in reality there are wide and contradictory differences in belief.
I do not believe that you, a self-proclaimed evangelical would be as anti-semitic as this evangelical pastor.
Similarly many “evangelicals” like the Oneness Pentecostals reject the Trinity - while other “evangelicals” would see that as utterly false.
So this thread has conclusively proven that the term “evangelical” has little to no meaning as the differences are too wide.
Far better to refer to individual churches of peoples — like Apple D’s PCA has different beliefs from the Oneness Pentecostals and from Paula White.
Born again is misused by various non-orthodoxy groups.
Jesus equates born again or born from above with born of water and the Spirit.
Clearly, the context implies that born of water and the Spirit refers to baptism.
Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:3 that he had to be born again - and he clarifies it two verses later “You must be born of water and the Spirit” which he stated with reference to baptism. John made that point clear to the reader, because as soon as he finished describing Jesus’ discourse with Nicodemus in verses 2 to 21, he says next in verse 22 that After this Jesus and his disciples went into the land of Judea; there he remained with them and baptized
the thing is there is no joint you — your beliefs as a PCA member are different from non-Trinitarian “evangelicals” like the Oneness Pentecostals
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;unfortunately the groups outside orthodoxy are unable to honour these seven unity statements. These seven doctrinal facts are not negotiable, nor optional, yet they are fully ignored by the non-orthodoxy groups
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
(Ephesians 4:26)
