California Unveils Long-Term Reopening Plan, Delays Churches as ‘Higher Risk’

The process includes four stages and could take months.

SACRAMENTO, April 30, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — California’s Democrat governor, Gavin Newsom, on Tuesday released his proposal for resuming normal life following the COVID-19 outbreak, a four-stage plan that would leave churches closed for “months.”

California is currently in Stage 1, ABC 7 reports, with the general public staying at home and all “nonessential” businesses shut down. In a few weeks, Department of Public Health director Dr. Sonia Angell says, the state can move on to Stage 2, which would reopen “lower risk workplaces” such as manufacturing, schools, child care facilities, and offices. Additional retailers would be allowed to offer curbside pickup services as well.

The second half of the plan is “months, not weeks” away, according to Angell.

Stage 3 would see the reopening of places defined as “higher risk” due to the close proximity of people inside to one another, including religious services, beauty salons, gyms, and movie theaters. Later, Stage 4 would represent a complete end to the lockdown.

To evaluate when to move on from stage to stage, California officials will monitor several factors, including expanded testing, protections for those most susceptible to COVID-19 (the elderly and the immuno-compromised), hospital capacity, development of treatment options, and continued observance of “social distancing.”

“This is going to be a while, but there are ways we can modify the way we move around in our environment that will make it more possible (to reopen)," Angell said.

California, New York, New Jersey, Washington, and Oregon will stay closed (ie, the ports on the east and west coasts), to hurt the economy (orange man bad!)

The rest of the country will open up.

Newsom turned San Francisco into a toilet. Now he’s determined to do the same thing to the whole state of California.

How come they don’t shut down churches every year when the flu is prevalent and infecting millions of people??

Yes, in 1918 we did, but only for a few weeks in some large cities. But now they’re saying months?! What does that mean, maybe by Christmas?

Totally unacceptable!

Try and keep people out of national cemeteries on Memorial Day and see what happens.

Churches and Sunday Schools were shut down in Creston Valley, British Columbia in the fall of 1918. It was a very rural, low population area.

It will be interesting to compare Texas and California over the coming weeks and months, similar populations and density, lifestyles with cars etc. Texas’s phases are similar but set way earlier It’s interesting California fared better than New York but it’s hard to compare NYC to anywhere else

Considering the ports are vital to America I could see Trump ordering them open, and as far as Noisomes BS plan that would take months? pretty sure the majority of Californians will revolt and there aren’t enough leftist PD’s or Sheriffs to join the too few CHP in backing up the fascist. Especially when every day it becomes more and more evident that the Covid pandemic was overblown, things like the CDC suddenly dropping the death count from 63,000 to 29,000.

I was just thinking about how all this started. 2-2.2 million deaths. Isolate for a couple weeks, break the wave, flatten the curve. Now we're at 6 weeks and counting, maybe 80,000 dead.* And...we'll open things up when 'we in government' decides it's time.

I would have never signed off on this. Most here, with the exception of the Fearpers, would say the same.

*However you want to define 'dead,' died of/with/in the neighborhood of/maybe/woulda/coulda/shoulda/better have been/ CV.
