Deacon Nick Donnelly has reported that the Hermits of Westray received notification of their excommunication on Christmas Day. The three Scottish hermits were reportedly excommunicated for a post on their website entitled The Declaration. In the post, the hermits declare:
Never in history has there been such a Pope, who by his actions, words and teaching, has thrown the whole Church into confusion. There have been bad and immoral Popes like John XII, and Alexander VI, there have been mad Popes, like Urban VI, there have been severe and unbalanced reforming Popes like Paul IV, and there have been pleasure loving Popes like Leo X, but none of them have spread such alarm throughout the Catholic Church. Such days have never been seen since the days of the Arian heresy, and yet these days are far, far worse.
A terrible darkness has spread over the world and the Church. Modernism, Secularism, Humanism, and Scientism are eroding the ancient Truths of Faith; and aided by the poisonous ideology of Evolution, which is no science at all, have convinced many in the Church that Man is getting better all the time. Thus ignoring the fact that the last century has seen tyrants and wars which eclipse all others in recorded history, for aided by science the evils of war and tyranny have been magnified beyond all imagining, and that terrifying magnification is ever increasing, and evil is truly unrestrained.
Tragically the head of the Church on Earth, Pope Francis, by his utterances, his behaviour, his teaching and his actions, has shown himself to be indeed a great heretic.....

Does a manifest heretic have the authority to excommunicate anyone?
A lot of us feel the same way. These three articulated the feeling better than most of us could do.
When all is said and done, the Pope, any Pope remains an earthbound human being. Any man still on earth is NOT infallible. That’s just the truth.
What will The Vatican do? They can’t excommunicate all of us!
I don’t have a dog in this fight *but* the current pope does not seem to be very ‘religious’.
Excommunication by THIS pope should be a mark of high honor.
And behold the false prophet.
All that is needed now is the beast out of the sea.
Being excommunicated by this Pope is like being impeached by Pelosi
No one on earth can separate us from God or take away our salvation, this is the basis of what led to the protestant reformation. Evil pope’s declaring evil good.
Hermits have websites?
LOL ...wait that’s not an exaggeration at all.
Im thinking Francis is The false prophet.
good thing he’s a pseudo-pope...
When is Pelosi going to be impeached?
After 11 of 12 years of catholic education and at the age of around 55 or so, I left the catholic church. And yes this pope is a heretic. Blasphemous demon.
Discernment truly is a blessed gift. Eyes that can see. Ears that can hear.
Evil is not good. Good is not evil. No matter what he says.
I’m not even a very good Catholic but my 16 yrs of Catholic school by old time nuns tells me that something very very wrong is going on..
Only God can ‘excommunicate’ anyone, and God listens to everyone who seeks God. The Pope doesn’t define if I am a Catholic or not - even if he excommunicates me. It’s kind of ironic that he is pushing ‘evolution’ of the Church, while clinging to the authority allotted to him by an over interpretation of Christ’s comments to Peter. Peter was human, and clearly not infallible - as became clear when he denied Christ three times. The fallibility of Popes has been demonstrated time and time again over the centuries.
It is also ironic that the failure of the Church centuries ago to recognize truth of the science about the Earth revolving around the sun, is now supplanted by the Pope going to the extreme in the other direction - looking to science for most answers and diminishing the importance of faith in the ‘modern’ world.
From what I know about Catholicism if a Catholic doesn't believe the POPE is infallible in matters of "faith and morals" when speaking ex- cathedra to the whole church on faith and moral issues, you are a Catholic heretic.
Obviously the POPE would not be infallible in other matters, like predicting the next NFL super bowl winner.
Or giving his personal opinion on the death penalty or immigration. -Tom
As imperfect a Catholic as I am (and always have been) I haven’t left the Church. I just think of Pope John Paul II as my worldly spiritual guide.
"Ahm, Francis the First, I am, I am
Francis the First, I am, I am..."
