If they were 18 they were adults.

The media will rush to defend the pastor. Right?

They were both adults. They were upset that he was dating more than one.

Cute. Would certainly test a young mans will power.
He did the difficult thing and owned up to it. I’ll give him that.

If he was single what difference does it make?

Unfortunately not uncommon and almost always covered up if it comes out at all.

They were 18, and he was 24.
Doesn’t make it right, of course. And there was the whole, what do you call it? Menage? But on different days. He couldn’t keep the evidence under “wraps.”
Pictures of the two women are readily available on the web search and they don’t really show any coercion... more like dating pictures at various venues posed and smiling. I think it’s probably a matter of a poor choice on all parties however, poor choices don’t necessarily or maybe should not include legal battles over the unobtainable goals or desires set by all parties.
If the Pastor lawyers up well, it will probably be viewed as youthful indiscretion but at the legal age. I’ve seen it happen a number of times in court.

I used to know a guy who was a former major league baseball player. He was a good guy and especially hard worker. Also supervised our recreation crew.
He was 43.
One day he showed up for lunch with an 18 year old girl. They were dating and everyone thought it was improper.
I got to thinking about it and while I would not encourage it, there is technically nothing wrong with their getting married.

I think there is a difference between a former ball player and a youth pastor.

I agree. I’ve been following this story at Spiritual Sounding Board. He was treating the youth group like a harem.
That is not appropriate for a minister, no matter how long ago it was.

That was my thought too. Unless there was assault, coercion, or they were unable to consent I don’t see why he felt he needed to resign.
