Where did I defend denominations as being the wheat?

You didn't. Neither did I.

The point is the wheat and tares grow *together* until the harvest.

Now you’re just being silly. My contention is you’re reading things into the Scriptures that aren’t there. “What” you’re reading into them is for YOU to say, not me.

They will burn as the scapular does.

Unfortunately, you are right. You can show someone how to be saved from Hell Fire, and have precious assurance of salvation, but you can’t make them believe it. 👎

Mary of the Bible certainly did have other children...

Luke 2:7 said that Mary gave birth to her FIRSTBORN son.

Now, *firstborn* and *only* are not the same thing nor are they even synonyms.

Additionally, I think Luke, being a doctor, knew the difference between *only* and *firstborn*.

Matthew 1:18-25 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.

But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

Psalm 69:8 I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother's sons.

Matthew 1:24-25 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

Matthew 12:46-47 While He was still speaking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. And someone said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.”

Matthew 13:55 “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?

Mark 6:2-3 And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands?”... “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?”

Luke 2:1-7 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

John 2:12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother, and His brothers, and His disciples; and there they stayed a few days.”

John 7:2-5 Now the Jews’ Feast of Booths was at hand. So his brothers said to him, “Leave here and go to Judea, that your disciples also may see the works you are doing. For no one works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world.” For not even his brothers believed in him.

Acts 1:14 These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers

1 Corinthians 9:4-5 Do we not have a right to eat and drink? Do we not have a right to take along a believing wife, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?

Galatians 1:19 But I did not see any other of the apostles except James, the Lord’s brother

Strong's Concordance

http://biblehub.com/greek/80.htm

adelphos: a brother

Original Word: ἀδελφός, οῦ, ὁ

Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine

Transliteration: adelphos

Phonetic Spelling: (ad-el-fos')

Short Definition: a brother

Definition: a brother, member of the same religious community, especially a fellow-Christian.

Here is a link to the occurrences of the Greek word *adelphos*.

http://biblehub.com/greek/80.htm

The word *sister* (adelphe) in the Greek is the same.

http://biblehub.com/greek/79.htm

The word used is *brother* not *cousin*.

It can't mean a member of the same religious community in the context in which they occur, because then that would mean every man in Israel could be identified as Jesus' brother. So that would not identify Jesus as anyone in particular's brother.

It's not going to mean *brother in Christ* as that concept was not yet in place and the Jews, who knew Jesus as a Jew and knew His brothers as Jews, would not even begin to understand the new birth and what being in Christ meant.

They didn't even understand who JESUS was, much less being a *brother in Christ*.

The only definition left then, is to mean physical brother.

And it would not be *cousin*.

The word for *relative* that is used for Elizabeth is *suggenes*, not *adelphe*.

http://biblehub.com/greek/4773.htm

Strong's Concordance

suggenes: akin, a relative

Original Word: συγγενής, ές

Part of Speech: Adjective

Transliteration: suggenes

Phonetic Spelling: (soong-ghen-ace')

Short Definition: akin, a relative

Definition: akin to, related; subst: fellow countryman, kinsman.

I have put down the scriptures that prove the the mother of Jesus was not the mother of James And Jose’s, but it does no good.

When and where? I went through your posting history on this thread and did not see it. Nor did I see it in any of the other threads in your posting history.

Sorry. That’s not how it works. Either in usage (see LXX and if you believe Mary had a sister named Mary) nor according to historical documents. The “brothers” of Jesus were the sons of Clopas, not Joseph.

Unfortunately for you, what you think he wrote is not what he actually wrote.

So instead of just saying *You're wrong* and expecting us to believe you, which we won't without evidence, why not tell us what you think is right and provide the evidence to support it?

You guys treat Holy Writ like it was a contract.

It's better than how you guys treat it, which is generally with contempt the way you all dismiss and disparage it.

I don’t really care what the Greek words mean as it is translated into english.

You don't care to know and understand Scripture as well as you can?

Why am I not surprised?

[25] And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

[25] "Till she brought forth her firstborn son": From these words Helvidius and other heretics most impiously inferred that the blessed Virgin Mary had other children besides Christ; but St. Jerome shews, by divers examples, that this expression of the Evangelist was a manner of speaking usual among the Hebrews, to denote by the word until, only what is done, without any regard to the future. Thus it is said, Genesis 8. 6 and 7, that Noe sent forth a raven, which went forth, and did not return till the waters were dried up on the earth. That is, did not return any more. Also Isaias 46. 4, God says: I am till you grow old. Who dare infer that God should then cease to be: Also in the first book of Machabees 5. 54, And they went up to mount Sion with joy and gladness, and offered holocausts, because not one of them was slain till they had returned in peace. That is, not one was slain before or after they had returned. God saith to his divine Son: Sit on my right hand till I make thy enemies thy footstool. Shall he sit no longer after his enemies are subdued? Yea and for all eternity. St. Jerome also proves by Scripture examples, that an only begotten son, was also called firstborn, or first begotten: because according to the law, the firstborn males were to be consecrated to God; Sanctify unto me, saith the Lord, every firstborn that openeth the womb among the children of Israel, etc. Ex. 13. 2.

Everybody in Scripture, except for the Blessed Mother, Adam and Eve, had original sin.

That's the Catholic argument.

That may be the Catholic argument but it's unsupported by Scripture.

There's nothing in Scripture that indicates Mary was inherently anything special over against anyone else. She was a sinner, just like the rest of mankind, and she had a normal marriage with Joseph who the Holy spirit TOLD to take as his wife.

They had a normal, God honoring marriage which included sex and children. The names of the boys are even listed for us.

You better check with HIM on what the Bible tells you. I don’t think it means what you think it means, to borrow a popular meme.

So instead of just saying *You're wrong* again, how about telling us how you think we are wrong and what you think right is.

Simply telling someone they are wrong, does not by default tell someone how to be right.

There can be millions of ways of being wrong, but only one way of being right.

There's nothing in Scripture that indicates Mary was inherently anything special over against anyone else.

[41] And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: [42] And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. [43] And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? [44] For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. [45] And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord.

[46] And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord. [47] And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. [48] Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. [49] Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name. [50] And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him. Luke Chapter 1

Did Luther yank the above out your "bible"?

True, but I think we both know how y’all would receive counter-arguments. Pointing out the text doesn’t say what you claim is sufficient for my purposes.

Tell you what, you email the sisters and ask them if they’re saying someone with mortal sin on them will get out of hell free by wearing the scapular.

OK then, so it IS a lie printed on the scapular.

Not at all! And you can’t prove otherwise, nor can you support the “scapular is what saves you” nonsense, either.
