Pete Buttigieg is Wrong — God Still Forbids All Homosexual Acts
http://www.ncregister.com ^ | May 16, 2019 | Msgr Charles Pope

In recent remarks, Pete Buttigieg, Democratic presidential candidate and mayor of South Bend, Indiana, remarked that his same-sex “marriage” to Chasten Glezman has brought him closer to God. His remarks were directed toward Vice President Mike Pence, who is on record as opposing such “marriages.” Buttigieg said:

Being married to Chasten has made me a better human being because it has made me more compassionate, more understanding, more self-aware and more decent. My marriage to Chasten has made me a better man. And yes, Mr. Vice President, it has moved me closer to God.

This raises a question: To what god has he moved closer? Respectfully and sincerely, Mr. Buttigieg, it cannot be the God who has revealed himself in the Scriptures and through the Church. God is not in the habit of speaking out of both sides of his mouth. He does not contradict himself by altering, let alone reversing (as you claim) his teachings.

At every stage of scriptural revelation, from Genesis through the New Testament, God has spoken of homosexual acts as sinful and disordered. He also condemns other forms of illicit sexual union such as fornication and adultery. Jesus even condemns the entertaining of lustful thoughts. I have written before of the biblical record on these teachings (“Do Not Be Deceived: God Forbids Homosexual Acts”).

Some point out that Jesus is never recorded in Scripture as condemning homosexual acts. That may be true — but he is not recorded as condemning rape, either. An argument based on silence is weak at best and erroneous at worst. Further, Jesus said to his apostles “He who hears you hears me” — and the apostles unambiguously describe homosexual acts as sinful. These biblical texts are not ambiguous, and they are consistent across every biblical era.

Am I the only one who finds it ironically amusing that this article was written by an official of the Catholic church?

The trouble with people rewriting the Bible is that they think they are God.

I fear that Peter ButtPluggeriegieg is on the proverbial road to Hell which is commonly known as the Hershey Highway.

Churches are political institutions of man... Jesus saw this first hand...

I don’t understand why people are always trying to re-interpret religions to be supportive of their lifestyle. Either amend your lifestyle to align with the religion of your choice, or choose between them. Anything else is psychologically incoherent.

Pre-response to post #2:

Oh, okay. So we're going to pretend there isn't widespread homosexuality being practiced by the clergy within the Catholic church?

Just one question:

Is this post going to be removed removed, too, or just post #2?

Buttwhat has called Chasten his husband. That means he is the “wife” in their “marriage”. Does that mean he is actually running for First lady of the US?

Good thing God isn’t a Catholic or He’d be excommunicated for such wrongheadedness.

“The trouble with people rewriting the Bible is that they think they are God.”

hmmm. The Bible we read today has been rewritten many times.

The fact that so many believe they need the mantle of religion to justify themselves is in itself telling. It’s not sufficient to simply say “I disagree with you” and leave it at that. Instead they need to say “Your interpretation of your own beliefs is in error, and I in fact have a deeper understanding of them than you do.” No clearer illustration of the “sin of pride” can be seen in the modern world.

Those who try to act like Christ not saying anything means it is okay are self servingly ignoring the fact that homosexuality was not a controversial problem in Israel that even needed addressing.

By this I mean that while there were many issues that Jews were facing where confused, contradictory and even Scripture negating traditions had been advanced ... and we do see Christ addressing these ... there was NOT confusion being advanced about homosexuality being perverted or not.

Even the teachers that we’re getting so much wrong were getting that right.

So of course Christ didn’t have to say anything!

Simply: from first to last Scripture is so clear on the disordered nature of homosexuality that by the time a group of people have reached the point that they’re tossing that prohibition aside they’ve already departed from a lot more besides it.

Thus we see Romans 1:18-32 beginning with them not retaining knowledge of the Lord! Only after that do they become champions of homosexuality etc.

It’s like a canary in a coal mine. When the canary died real coal miners would start looking for the exit; but, their counterparts in the “progressive” (if “progress” is hell trending) congregations don’t do that ... when they see their proverbial canary die, they celebrate their inclusiveness and relevancy to post modern ideology or whatever ... and they press deeper into the proverbial mine where the air is even deadlier.

Humorous aside, some years ago while I was still working retail a young mother was in the store and her small child was into everything.

She’d say: “Corbin, don’t touch” this or that asthey roamed the store and while checking out too.

I had to laugh inside where it counted because the similar word in Hebrew essentially meant don’t touch too.

So she was saying: Don’t Touch, don’t touch!”

Quite frankly, I’m fed up with the CONSTANT, NON-STOP conversations and discussions about people’s and group’s sexual preferences.

That and they’re doing the will of the Devil by invading and despoiling the assembly of the saints here on Earth, trying to ensure that people depart from sound doctrine and the next generation never learn it.

(Even as they try to recruit the next generation to buggery, or more specifically, be buggered by them)
