Of course. Paul warned of wolves in sheeps’ clothes.

we have free will...God does not interfere with our bad choices....but picking a pope is not a choice Catholics have made...the inner sanctum of cardinals choose him and who knows what evil lurks there..

Who knows indeed!

Feb 14, 2019 - A large majority of priests in the Vatican are gay, although many are not sexually active, a new book claims. A total of about 80 percent of the most revered clerics in the Roman Catholic Church are homosexual despite the church’s opposition to gay rights, according to the ...

When Chicago was in the process of electing its first black mayor, the late Sun-Times columnist Mike Royko opined that even if he turned out to be the worst mayor Chicago ever had, the City would survive.

That’s exactly what happened (not that Harold Washington was - or wasn’t the worst mayor ever); Chicago survived.

Similarly, so will the Church.

Leaders in the RCC are so much more subtle these days.

And as well they should be, with what we know about the negative health effects of consuming too many simple sugars and carbohydrates.

There have been plenty of bad Popes over the centuries.

Dirty little secret: the early church was very much sola scriptura (scripture alone teaches us about God), sola fida (faith alone, not works), sola gratia (grace alone), solus Cristus (Christ alone), and soli deo Gloria (to God alone be the glory).

https://credohouse.org/blog/did-the-early-church-fathers-believe-in-sola-scriptura

The Protestant Reformation wasn't a new thing, it was an attempt to reform the Catholic Church back to it's original roots. The evil Popes in history were the ones who abused their power by getting away from the "five solas". In many ways, Protestants are more traditional Catholics than modern Catholics are.

What a joke. Would God permit 10,000 pedophile priests in the United States?

He permitted this one. Do you think God would change the cardinals’ votes to prevent a bad pope?
That would violate free will and be a miracle. Miracles are extremely rare. Or they would be SOP and not a miracle.

So which is it?

Scripture alone?

Faith alone?

Grace alone?

Or Glory of God alone.

Do you know what the word, “alone”, means?

It’s a little too late to ask that question.

Curious thing about the parable of the mustard seed, and fowls living in the branches of such a relatively fragile plant.

As I recall, those claims were made by enemies of Pope Alexander and made years after his death as well. Cesare was more likely Pope Alexander’s nephew, not his son. Likewise the claim that he had sex with Lucrezia is belied by the historical evidence.

Well, seeing as a pope is a man, holding a man-made position, I don’t see why he’d be exempt from the temptations of every other man.

“I happen to be a Jew, but I also believe that the Catholic church is the only church of Jesus of Nazareth.”

Easy for you to say, because you AREN’T Christian. I think a lot of Christians who are not Catholics would take issue with your statement for a variety of valid reasons. Because you are the biggest, doesn’t mean that you are “true.” Just look at the fact that one third of the world is Muslim. Being Jewish, that fact should be more important to you.

Wrong question... A more relevant one would be: “Why did God allow an evil pope?”

God permitted King Herod, didn't he?

Maybe God has finally had enough:

Matt. 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.

With all due respect to my Catholic friends and fellow Christians.

His statements aren’t Ex-Cathedra (from the Chair) they are just the babblings of a Jesuit.
