Pro-Abort John Dingell Gets Catholic Funeral

Funeral to take place at Church of the Divine Child in Dearborn, MI

DEARBORN, Mich. (ChurchMilitant.com) - Catholics are outraged another pro-choice politician will be given a Catholic funeral.

Throughout John Dingell's nearly six decades serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, his many and varied achievements would have to include his support to advance the Culture of Death by pushing contraception, abortion pills for rape victims and using embryos for research.

In 2006, before he retired, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) rated Dingell as having a "pro-choice stance" with a score of 0 percent.

He died from prostate cancer on Thursday, and despite his public record, a public funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at the Church of the Divine Child in Dearborn, Michigan.

Church Militant was contacted by a number of Catholics that are wondering why a Catholic funeral Mass is being held for him.

"Catholics cannot vote to kill unborn children," one said. "Since when do Democrats not have to follow the Fifth Commandment and then still be able to have a huge funeral Mass, full of accolades for his abominable voting record?"

If you're talking about the Vatican, yes, the core group around Burgie find Catholic Doctrine and Dogma objectionable.

Just an observation: that particular seat in Congress has been in a Dingle name since 1933. That is 86 years.

That is a “Lord” or Baron, not a Rep.

Around here politicians who have never met an abortion they wouldn’t vote for not only get Communion, they get invited to Church dinners and festivals, where they are feted as honored guests.

The Church is destroying itself by it’s own lack of principled stands.

The sacramental system is a crock.

Interesting view point. Christianity, the vast majority of it, believes otherwise about sacraments. This includes Catholics (Eastern and Latin rites) , Anglicans, Lutherans, some other Protestants, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, etc.

PS I'm former RCC.

Why is it supposedly "former Catholics" usually demonstrate they know the least about the Catholic Church but try to pass themselves off as experts about it? At what age did you leave the Church?

Remember Sola Scriptura !!!

Yes, you have to remember it; it's not in Scripture.

The Dingell family has controlled that congressional seat for over 85 years. Way to long.

What kind of person John Dingell may have been when he was first elected is one thing. What he was when he died was a guy who had been there too long and was as corrupt as any person could be. Only interested in maintaining his power and perks. Wonder what his net worth was when elected and when he died?????????

As much as I despised his politics, it is possible he repented and made a good confession so he could die in the Church. I guess 100 years in purgatory is better than hell.
