At least, I don't got no funny undies.
Or even wear silk ones on Sundays.
I'm not gonna share
'bout what's hidden down there
I'll just say they're clean and not grundgy!

I know there are 800+ posts in this thread. It took two posts to start the rancor.

From one side you have zealots who are fascinated with the minutiae of the Roman Catholic Church and why it’s wrong. From the other side there is an adherence to rules that don’t seem to make sense.

Both sides do this on every RC thread. Have any of you learned that none of this matters. You are not changing minds or saving souls.

Does it occur to you that these are the same type of rigid rules that cause people to fight over “God” instantly for the past 2,000 years. In a short time, we all end up meeting God on our own terms. I get the impression that when we are standing in front of Him he is not going to give a hoot what the other folks in line think. You will be in the spotlight.

Story if I offended. I intentionally did not direct the comment to any specific person.

RC threads and Civil War threads bring out the worst in our members. After 20 years it’s gets tiresome.

Sometimes you miss the point grandly.

The disciples were Israelites on the night before the Cross. IF Jesus had given them blood to drink that night HE would be causing them to violate GOD's commands against blood.

Enjoy your weekend.

"Today you shall be with me in Paradise."

That was a promise, with fulfilled forgiveness yet in the offing.

While Paradise (Abrahsm's Bosom) was yet an adjunct segment of Hell (Hades). it was two days later that Jesus successfully offered His sacrificial blood, slaked The God's anger with mankind, and obtained The Father's permission to detach Paradise (which had been, though pleasant, a place of captivity of souls believing in Messiah) from Hades, and merge it with Heaven instead,

Ephesians 4:8-10 AV:
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive,
and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower
parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens,
that he might fill all things.)

Because of Jesus' Blood atonement at the Mercy Seat of Heaven, all these OT saints were finally able to be admitted to Heaven forever, fulfilling His promise to them.

The water and blood coming out of His side...

I thought every Christian FReeper knew what this was about...

When a body dies, the blood stops circulating because the heart stops beating.

Fluid starts building up in the chest/lung area.

The separation of “water” and “blood” that came out of Christ's side was another one of God's verifications of the miracle of the Resurrection three days later....

Because Jesus was TRULY DEAD on the Cross. But He did NOT die from blood loss. Not sure how any modern Christian could actually come up with that kind of idea?

Blood and water coming out of His side indicated that He had been dead for some time, and His legs did not need to be broken (thus fulfilling another prophecy that the Lamb of God would not have any of His bones broken, a ritual requirement for Hebrew sacrifice).

The breaking of the legs of crucifixion victims hastened death because the legs were required to push up the body to take a breath. But Jesus' legs did not need to be broken:

"This piercing almost certainly indicates a laceration of the heart itself (pericardium) which would, even under normal circumstances, be fatal. Albert Barnes wrote, “This membrane [pericardium] contains a serous matter or liquid resembling water, which prevents the surface of the heart from becoming dry by its continual motion.” The separation of blood and water further implies some time had elapsed since His death. The blood and water indicate a post-mortem separation of the cellular components of blood from the fluid component (serum)."

From: https://www.housetohouse.com/evidences-of-jesus-death/

And also:

The stated order of “blood and water” may not necessarily indicate the order of appearance, but rather the relative prominence of each fluid. In this case, a spear through the right side of the heart would allow the pleural fluid (fluid built up in the lungs) to escape first, followed by a flow of blood from the wall of the right ventricle.(Edwards) The important fact is that the medical evidence supports that Jesus did die a physical death.

I don’t understand the question. If you are asking if I believe in the Trinity and a Triune Godhead... of course.

“Before Abraham ever was... I am”

Having done a lot of research on the N.A.R. and their false prophets, I can say that Rick Joyner has written that Jesus died on the Cross as a “spirit”.

That’s what John was warning about.

See, if Christ did not die an actual physical death in His humanity on the Cross, there is no hope for us, because this means that there was not real Resurrection from the Dead.

If there Christ did not really die on the Cross, then He was not really raised from the Dead, and there was not miracle: then we are all dead in our sins.

This is why deceivers lie about the event, and say that Christ was just a spirit when He died on the cross.

On this, I will go along with your reading of the metaphoric and symbolic application of the Blood in Heaven...

Which leads to the flaw in your argument that Christ bled out physically and had no blood in His body at the Resurrection.

The application of Christ’s blood is symbolic (not strictly physically applied) but binding.

The prooftext for your argument would be that the sacrificial animals of the Levitical priesthood would have to be absolutely drained of every last bit of blood.

I don’t recall that being a requirement. In any case, see my last posts as to the medical reasons for Christ’s death on the cross.

He did not bleed out.

Good quote:

It confirms 1 John 3:2 “... now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we shall be. We know that, when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is.”

It has not appeared as yet what we shall be.

This means that the Resurrected body of Christ, that John saw and touched, was NOT His Glorified Body.

Jesus underwent the glorification transformation of 1 Corinthians 15 AFTER the ascension.

John, who interacted with Jesus after the resurrection said: “We do not now know, but we will be like Him”

Later, in Revelation, the contrast of how Christ looked on earth after the Resurrection (normal, and with the same body that He had BEFORE the Cross) is stunning.

Here John beholds the Glorified Christ:

JOHN SEES JESUS IN HIS GLORIFIED, IMMORTAL BODY IN
REV. 1:12... A MUCH DIFFERENT DESCRIPTION OF CHRIST THAN WHAT JOHN SAW AFTER THE RESURRECTION!

1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

As usual with all history, timelines are essential to prove the narrative.

Jesus had the same body after He was raised from the dead than He had before.

After He ascended into Heaven, He took on His glorified Body that John saw in Revelation 1:12, in stark contrast to the normal way Jesus appeared after He was raised from the grave.

This is why we “do not know as yet” what we will become, but when He appears at the Second Coming, we will know.

Thanks for mentioning this fringe group. I wasn't aware of it and just did some reading about it because of your post. Are there followers of this group posting here?

Let go of it, and your tension will go away.

When you participated in the breaking of bread, were the SYMBOLIC grape juice and the SYMBOLIC bread mixed?

Jesus' appearance in Heaven, and His Presence there now, are very plain-literal REAL, not a figurative-literal symbolic Metaphor or (worse yet) am allegory.

You can do better, if you listen to the Word instead of your own inclinations.

My concern on FR was originally because Sarah Palin had been tangentially involved with the NAR, as I myself had been a decade ago.

This is an arcane criticism of mine, I know, but an important logistic in our understanding of the Resurrection.

I’ve got the Scriptures to back up my point, but am running out of time to post now Bless you brother, and I apologize for how upset this topic gets me...

I suppose I want people to hold in their minds and hearts the absolute power of what God did at the Resurrection, with no doubt or weirdness clouding our understanding and amazement.

Les Paul invented his electrical guitar, probably a Gibson. I read his personal story on this, and IIRC, he made the first amplifier out of a little radio. I forget what the pickup was. But he really bore down on this and made the electric guitar a genre of its own. But MAN, how he could play it! And I loved Mary's voice and quiet demeanor.
