If they do, that's wrong.
No he just tells us he became our father.
Yup; but I did NOT ‘make it up’.
Right on. It is what is claimed. You can understand why I believed the poster was saying it.
Protection of the magisterium needed immediately!
Clean up on Aisle 3!

Apparently, the magisterium failed to teach about Adam & Eve sufficiently to protect to their priests (and their altars) - and the Vatican.
The entirety of the Hebrew reads ‘before my face.’ Or as we might put it today, ‘within my sight.’ So it’s not a commandment to make the Lord the highest of the gods, but rather to not have any other gods at ALL. Since where can we go that is out of God’s sight?
Not entirely relevant but it sprung to mind.
Rome is much like the US government except older and wider. Corruption is in the very top and through the entire apparatus. And those who would fight it are silenced or blocked or removed because to expose the corruption would destroy their power.
Constantine may have done the church some favors, especially in regards to a unified confession of faith, but the long term unintended consequences of wedding faith to the secular government outside of God’s command is still being felt today.
Agreed.
If they do, that's wrong.
Well, Roman Catholicism as a whole is guilty as they allow this to happen.
You have effectively condemned all of Roman Catholicism as guilty.
No, I haven't.
Nope.
In the introductions of his writings Paul never uses the title of Father.
No where.
You still have not resolved the command of Christ to "call no man Father".
Paul did not use it as a title. If he had he would have been in contradiction of His command.
You're arguing with the command of Christ.
Because they are not.
Why do you presume that all are?
Did Jesus condemn the image on the coin as a violation of the second commandment?
No.
Then why do you make it one?
You assume a lot.
You are wrong about all of them.
Well, yes you have. You may not see it, but others do. Much as the Israelis in the OT didn’t see a problem incorporating Baal into their worship alongside of God.
Are you that dense, or did you stay at a Holiday Inn?
Well, no I haven't.
You can make all the excuses you want.
The Catholic church is wrong for addressing its priests as *father*.
It is direct disobedience of Jesus command and no amount of rationalization can change that.
And nobody bows down to a coin.
Think about that when you kneel before the idol of Mary and pray TO the image it represents.
Jesus command is to CALL no man, no religious leader, by the title of father.
Pauls comment does not change that or contradict that.
I don't kneel here the idol of Mary and pray to the image it represents. Please don't project.
