Really?
Have you found a Gospel quote of Christ instructing his disciples to “write” anything?
G Larry...in all seriousness. Stop. You’re embarrassing yourself.
Then you are the lucky one!
So, you admit you have no answer to my question?
Thus the assumption that Catholic apparitions are MARY.
Yes; this PROT marvels greatly at the non-biblical attributes the woman Rome calls 'MARY' has been given.
We Catholics would MUCH rather be safe than sorry!
--Wannabe_Catholic_Dude(Hail Mary; I adore thee)
I admit your question is irrelevant. The Spirit moved men to write the NT....unless you’re saying the Spirit just on his own decided to do this apart from the Son and Father.
And this is important... why?
We’ve shown you plenty of Scripture, and every time we do, you continue to move the goalposts.
I’ve also shown you that the Apostles obviously believed that Jesus’s commands to preach and teach also included writing things down, so there’s the answer to your stringent demands THIS time.
Unless you think that you know more about what Jesus was talking about than the Apostles did?
Perhaps because Christians are not instructed to "venerate" Mary or pray to her or have idols of her or build shrines in her honor or convey titles to her, etc, etc.
I'm curious too.
Just WHERE; in the Bible that Rome assembled so long ago; is the phrase "Mary, Mother of God" found?
Why do you LIE about me?
Why do you LIE about the Gospels?
***
Accusation of lying is against RF rules. Look at the Religion Mod’s homepage to see the RF rule list.
Not sure what to make of that, either, but Im hopeful.
Perhaps it will be revealed that...
...was recorded in error.
Good one.
So what’s your problem with Scripture being written down?
Y’all brag on how Roman Catholicism allegedly transcribed Scripture from alleged oral teaching, and how they *preserved it* for all those years (and we’re told by other RC’s to say thank you to the RCC for the Bible) and now you’re about foaming at the mouth in railing against written Scripture. Your hair splitting and goal post moving is getting ridiculous.
Your first contention was that Jesus never commanded things to be written down. When you were shown your error, you just doubled down and moved the goalposts instead of admitting you made a mistake.
So what if Jesus didn’t command IN THE GOSPELS for men to write anything? Does that mean they were wrong for doing it? In that case,. it makes Roman Catholicism wrong for doing it as well.
If the Holy Spirit guided and led men to write it down, it’s still God doing it and that is all that matters.
And Scripture is still authoritative and the Truth and the standard by which everything else is to be measured.
It is not subject to any church or organization, no matter how much they try to claim responsibility for it. NOBODY owns the rights to Scripture or the claim to have the right to *correctly * interpret it. Anyone who does that is just making a power grab for control purposes only.
You are entitled to your own opinion, but not entitled to change the facts of Jesus and the Catholic Church teachings.
I realize that Luther and others rejected some of the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles and His Church, and tried to rely only on the Bible. Even the Bible says not all is contained in the Bible.
From John 21;
It is this disciple who testifies to these things and has written them,* and we know that his testimony is true.n 25There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written.o
At times Fundamentalists talk as if they thought no case could be made for the Catholic faith. Thats understandable. After all, if youre a Fundamentalist instead of a Catholic, it is because you do not believe that Catholicism is true. You reject it because you think it is false. But make sure what youre rejecting is Catholicism, not merely a caricature of it. If you think Catholics worship Mary, pray to statues, and claim the pope is equal to God, then you arent rejecting Catholicism, but someones misrepresentation of it. You deserve to have the facts before you make up your mind. This tract, which is just an overview, states a brief case for Catholicism in a few important areas. Catholic Answers has available tracts which consider in detail these and other topicsincluding, perhaps, just the ones you are most interested in.
Since the Reformers rejected the papacy, they also rejected the teaching authority of the Church. They looked elsewhere for the rule of faith and thought they found it solely in the Bible. Its interpretation would be left to the individual reader, guided by the Holy Spirit. But reason and experience tell us that the Bible could not have been intended as each mans private guide to the truth. If individual guidance by the Holy Spirit were a reality, everyone would understand the same thing from the Biblesince God cannot teach error. But Christians have understood contradictory things from Scripture. Fundamentalists even differ among themselves in what they think the Bible says.
The Bible also tells us that private interpretation is not to be the rule for understanding the Bible. Peter declares this to be a matter of prime importance, saying, “First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of ones own interpretation” (2 Pet. 1:20). Later he warns what can happen if a person ignorantly approaches Scripture on his own or is unstable in clinging to the apostolic teachings he has received. He states of Pauls letters, “There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures” (2 Pet. 3:16). Private interpretation and instability in clinging to the doctrines passed down from the apostles can thus result in one twisting the scriptures to ones own destruction.
The Bible also denies that it is sufficient as the Churchs rule of faith. Paul acknowledges that much Christian teaching is to be found in the tradition which is handed down by word of mouth (1 Cor. 11:2, 2 Tim. 2:2). He instructs us to “stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter” (2 Thess. 2:15). We are told that the first Christians “devoted themselves to the apostles teaching” (Acts 2:42), which was the oral teaching that was given even before the New Testament was written.
To make an informed decision, you need to hear both sides. Why not write to Catholic Answers for additional information and tracts? Either your suspicions will be confirmed, or you will discover that there is more to Catholicism than you once thought.

I, who am God, grew in My Mother's Womb; She nourished your God, creation! I fed from Her; I, who am the Word, love Her and honour Her;Vassula, in the very beginning I had given you an account of My Crucifixion;
remember when I said, "My gaze fell on My Mother, I looked upon Her and Our Hearts spoke: I am giving you My beloved children to be Your children too, You are to be their Mother,"
Yes, Lord, but our brothers the Protestants say that what You uttered from the Cross was meant literally to John. Your Mother becoming a 'widow', being taken care of by John when You were not around. They also say that St. Mary is not 'God's Mother'.
yet, My Vassula, Scripture never lies; Scripture says those words, "Mother of my Lord"; Elizabeth, who was inspired by the Holy Spirit, spoke these words; write: "Of all women You are the most Blessed, and Blessed is the Fruit of Your Womb; why should I be honoured with a visit from the Mother of My Lord?"Im sure youve read the quotes before, though probably not the above.the words I have said from My Cross are much deeper than many of you seem to understand; honour My Mother, who is your Holy Mother too;
Not sure what to make of the messages in TLIG either, but... as a by their fruits test, when, as a reader, I read the messages as being what they claim to be, I have that experience.
Otoh, I want to believe.
