Madison (WKOW) -- There's an online petition being circulated to remove the Bishop of the Diocese of Madison.

Bishop Robert Morlino is being criticized for his attitude about the LGTBQ community. Earlier this week, an email was sent to priests in the diocese saying that they could deny funeral rights for those in same-sex partnerships.

The diocese released a statement that said the communication is not official policy, but does meet the approval of Bishop Morlino.

The petition was posted on change.org Thursday and has thousands of signatures.

Here is the statement from diocese on the matter, as submitted to Channel 27 News by Brent M. King, Director of Communications for the Diocese of Madison:

Below please find a brief statement from the Diocese of Madison, regarding questions and concerns arising from a recent communication with priests, on the subject of funeral rites for those in same-sex relationships. This is the only public statement that will be offered by the diocese at this time:

And you can count on one hand the number of signatories who have attended services in the past year.

Growing up in the 50’s and 60’s and visiting Roman Catholic relatives in Madison, I learned that that Diocese was very conservative and faithful to Church doctrine long after the CINO movement started.

I know Madison well. The weakling freaks signing the petition wouldn’t last one minute in a rugby match, let alone on a combat field.

The patriots around Madison should tell these leftist freaks to shut up or die.

“Lyin Ryan’s District”

No - He is the Rep for Wisconsin’s 1st congressional.

Madison is in the 2nd.

I live in the 2nd - our critter is Mark Pocan - a gay walleyed barking communist... and there’s nothing we can do about it due to Madsison. Heck I live in the burbs and it’s still 60/40 at best.

FWIW

I believe Bp. Morlino is a friend of the tradition Latin Mass.

Bp Morlino also instituted Diocesan Marriage Tribunal procedures which have a strong default position of defending the marriage bond--- no E-Z quasi-Catholic divorce ---- and publicly stated that divorced people in civil second marriages are regarded as they have always been regarded in the Catholic Church, as erring couples who need to cease this sin, repent and come back to the Church.

Ah, there you have it. A traditional bishop can expect endless trouble and perhaps run out of town, over even small ball controversies.

Adherence to doctrine is a guarantee.

"Could deny", not "must deny"? That's a pretty weak instruction.

Can. 1184 §1. Unless they gave some signs of repentance before death, the following must be deprived of ecclesiastical funerals:

1/ notorious apostates, heretics, and schismatics;

2/ those who chose the cremation of their bodies for reasons contrary to Christian faith;

3/ other manifest sinners who cannot be granted ecclesiastical funerals without public scandal of the faithful.

§2. If any doubt occurs, the local ordinary is to be consulted, and his judgment must be followed.

Can. 1185 Any funeral Mass must also be denied a person who is excluded from ecclesiastical funerals.

Saints such as Saint Padre Pio, Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Saint Faustina would call these people influenced by evil.

Sounds like the same folks who said (2000 years ago): "CRUCIFY HIM! CRUCIFY HIM!"

Pagan attack on church.

Maybe these TURKEYS want abortion clinic in Diocesan office.

LGBTQQ alert!
