Poll: 83% of Catholics think Satan is just a symbol
Eight in ten U.S. Catholics don't believe that Satan actually exists, according to a new analysis of statistics.
In an online post dated August 24, the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) dissected raw data from the Faith and Global Policy Challenges Survey. This 2011 study polled 1,496 adults in the United States who profess belief in the existence of God with special emphasis on Christians.
CARA's analysis highlighted a concerning trend among Catholic respondents. Only 17 percent of Catholics said they believe that Satan is a living being. The vast majority, the remaining 83 percent, report thinking of Satan as merely a symbol of evil.
Satan's literal existence was most popular among Evangelical Protestants, 55 percent of whom said they believe the devil is a real being.
The fraction of the Catholic constituency that affirmed the devil's existence was smaller than that of any other religious group. Belief in the devil was almost as rare among Catholics as it was among those with no religious affiliation (16%).
Mark M. Gray, editor of CARA's research blog, dug deeper into the survey's raw data. He noted that Catholics who admit Satan's real existence are more likely to support pro-life initiatives, see the world as divided between good and evil and believe in spiritual and moral obligations.

Neither was any believer in Scripture taught or shown to pray to anyone else in Heaven but the Lord, despite over 200 prayers the Holy Spirit recorded for us as examples and instruction.
Stating that it is not for you to say that a class of Catholics are not so is not the same thing as stating that you cannot say it.
The issue is that of position/authority in Catholicism, which I presumed you were subject to (unlike me), not freedom. As regards the latter, I can thank God we are not in a RC monarchy which many RCs yearn for, though the secular anti-Christ state is grievous.
Actually, I was very active in my Catholic churches until the local bishop told me that there was n room in the Church for people like me (Traditional, Conservative Catholic). I asked the current bishop about this and his underling said that it still holds.
I tried for 7 years to accommodate my principles with the Conciliar Church, until I found it impossible to continue. I don’t know about your parish, but I find the intolerance of the hierarchy as off-putting as any other.
Well, that explains your angst against the Church. Don’t forget that it is worldwide ... not just centered on the one you attended.
a) I attended several churches in several states, all with the same results.
b) Visited the beautiful cathedrals of Spain and Italy. Inside, the magnificent marble altars are hidden by a plain, nondescript table.
c) The Conciliar Church is worldwide as are the abuses.
I attended a Catholic grade school, and they certainly taught me that he is real.
I am willing to believe that a shockingly significant number of Catholics don’t agree, but not 83%.
Human evil. Definitely!
Hint: the same guy that promulgated Vatican II and abolished the Oath Against Modernism.
I fail to see the distinction in your difference.
Oh well.
Moving on...
Some Catholics claim ownership of the ‘New Testament’... who do they think tempted Christ? Christ warned the first tribulation, which has not occurred before, in this flesh age (little Peter lingo) would be deception... Christ also warned about those in sheep’s clothing, and He warned about those coming in His name... AND Christ also warned to take heed that He had foretold us all things... Too many are too easily led astray, in the name of Jesus, doing the devil’s bidding.
While Christians discuss their different denominational Theology and piety, THIS goes on.
Actually, a whole lot is going on but, this stands out to me as dirty vile sewage water destroying a foundation of sandy belief.

Who are the 45% FOLKS??
Who wrote these questions??
Vatican exorcist Gabriele Amorth told the Italian newspaper Il Messagero: "I've seen things like this before. Demons occupy a house and appear in electrical goods. ... Let's not forget that Satan and his followers have immense powers." He told the Scotsman: "With cases of demon behavior, it is normal for domestic appliances to be involved and for demons [to] make their presence known via electricity." 1
Dang!
You may as well be a PROT; then!!
"One indeed is the universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved, in which the priest himself is the sacrifice, Jesus Christ, whose body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the species of bread and wine; the bread (changed) into His body by the divine power of transubstantiation, and the wine into the blood, so that to accomplish the mystery of unity we ourselves receive from His (nature) what He Himself received from ours."
--Pope Innocent III and Lateran Council IV (A.D. 1215)
Just the answer I expected from the oh so tolerant Conciliar Church. Tolerance for Mohammedans, Buddhists, atheists, sexual perverts, etc.; but not for Traditional, Conservatives.
BTW, your quote is better heeded by Father Joe and his rock band or Bishop Sam and his merry band of perverts or Francis and his “one world religion” cabal.
I'm dead...
Evil exists nicely on its own without need of Satan.
