The Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (CEV) has publicly invoked the intercession of the Virgin Mary to free the nation from the claws of communism, in a clear reference to the regime of President Nicolás Maduro.
Blessed Virgin, Mother of Coromoto, heavenly Patron of Venezuela, free our country from the claws of communism and socialism, the CEV posted on Twitter this Sunday, complete with an image of Santa Maria and a Venezuelan flag.

This is why I keep urging people: please don't TELL me what I believe. ASK me what I believe. TELL me what YOU believe. Please. That will be more interesting, more thoughtful, and --- I guarantee --- more accurate.
In the Mass, Christ offers Himself by virtue of His high priesthood; He is a "priest forever" as Scripture says.
In the Mass, Christ is the offering by virtue of being the "Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world" (John 1:29) Revelation shows us that He is "The Lamb who was slain from the foundations of the world" ---this is a reference toeternity, the eternal present: forever.
Thus, the Mass is truly an offering - the offering of Christ Himself (the Lamb), by Himself (the Priest), even in the light of eternity.
This does not mean --- and here's where your supposal misses the mark --- that Christ dies again, that He is continually crucified, that He is killed over and over again. This is not the case. I said this before, but some might have missed it. Note the word "Not."
It is a plain fact of history that Christ died only one time upon the cross. As Sacred Scripture says:
"Knowing that Christ rising again from the dead, dies now no more, death shall no more have dominion over him. For in that he died to sin, he died once; but in that He lives, He lives unto God" (Rom. 6:9-10).
The fact that Christ is the "Victim" at the Mass may cause some confusion in English, since current usage has "victim" meaning either (1) somebody who had something rotten done to him, by definition unwillingly: a robbery "victim," or (2) someone who dies (a cancer "victim"), or, a person taken advantage of (a bank fraud "victim").
The Church uses the word in its more original , much older sense, a person or thing consecrated for offering to God, for sacrifice. In Jesus' case, not unwillingly; in Jesus' case, a one-time offering, not to die over and over again.
Though Jesus died only once, He is perpetually interceding for us before the throne of God, pleading His blood and the perfection of His offering to God on our behalf.
"Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us" (Rom. 8:34).
To blot out the true significance of "victim" and "sacrifice" from the Mass, would entail ripping out a whole lot of Scripture, which of course we cannot do.
This heavenly offering--- an "un-bloody" sacrifice in the sense that there is no killing, no violence --- is the principle act of the Mass.
This is all said right out loud, right at the altar, by the way. If you're going to comment on the Mass, it would help for you to familiarize yourself with the principal parts of the Mass. An easy way to do this would be to into a Catholic Church and borrow a Missalette (one of those paperback thingies in the pews.) Just return it before the next Sunday, OK? I always do :o)
For starters, in the beginning, it was not about prayers to departed saints, at all.
Would you care to better address what I've wrote to you in previous comment prior to asking me questions? Within that comment was indication of just what sort of conceptualization of what 'communion of the saints' was not.
It is a plain fact of history that Christ died only one time upon the cross. As Sacred Scripture says:
I agree Christ died only once as noted in the Word. However, O'Brien, a RCC priest, indicates otherwise.
...the priest brings Christ down from heaven, and renders Him present on our altar as the eternal Victim for the sins of mannot once but a thousand times!
Actually, when you consider the number of Masses conducted around the world on a daily basis it's way more than a thousand times.
The RCC could have used, instead of Victim, the word used in 1 John 2:2. hilasmos
But nowhere in the NT is Christ ever presented as being subject to the commands of a priest and bowing His head in obedience to a priest and coming back to be placed on the altar....not once, but a thousand times!
It's almost as if Roman Catholicism has re-instituted the Old Testament sacrificial system complete with priests, sacrifices, etc.
To blot out the true significance of "victim" and "sacrifice" from the Mass, would entail ripping out a whole lot of Scripture, which of course we cannot do.
Actually, we see the opposite here. Rome has added much to the Mass that is either not found in Scripture or is in contradiction of Scripture.
Tch. Christ IS the High Priest. Only Christ offers Christ, because a mere man cannot offer Jesus as if He were a bull or a goat, sheesh! What strange ideas you paste over our doctrines.
The Lamb of God is not something from our flock that we own. This is quite different. Christ says, “No one takes my life from me. I lay down my life.”
Jesus us our Hilasmos, good. Our expiation.
Any valid earthly priest is acting *in persona Christi*. A priest can do nothing *in persona Tim O’Toole*.
You will correctly notice I said, "It's almost as if Roman Catholicism has re-instituted the Old Testament sacrificial system complete with priests, sacrifices, etc."
Any valid earthly priest is acting *in persona Christi*. A priest can do nothing *in persona Tim OToole*.
Of which there is no NT support for this claim.
However, you still ignore what O'Brien, who you tried to dismiss, said,
"...the priest brings Christ down from heaven, and renders Him present on our altar as the eternal Victim for the sins of mannot once but a thousand times!"
Again, there is ZERO NT support for this false claim by Rome.
I know quite clearly what the communion of saints is. It is the Church militant, the Church suffering, and the Church triumphant. We all pray for each other. We all intercede for each other. The Grace is from Jesus Christ, Who is the only mediator between God and man. But there are many mediators between man and man; In the same way we participate in our salvation by acts of our free will to cooperate with the graces won for us by Jesus Christ, we also participate in our neighbors salvation. It is a community of love. For those who have the gift of Faith this is an easy concept.
If you have some other conception of the communion of saints I am interested in knowing what it is.
What about St. Rita?
Our Lady of Coromoto (Spanish: Nuestra Señora de Coromoto), also known as the Virgin of Coromoto (Spanish: Virgen de Coromoto), is a celebrated Catholic image of an alleged apparition of the Virgin Mary. In 1942, she was declared the Patroness of Venezuela. (That has worked out well...)
And, there is ZERO FR support for this claim by Catholic FReepers; too.
The whole *communion of the saints and distinguishing between what you call the church militant, the church suffering, and the church triumphant is a Catholic construct.
it is found nowhere in Scripture, those terms are never used in the Bible.
And it’s a very lousy excuse to justify praying to dead people.
Just pray to God the Father Himself, as Christ instructed us to. He will answer our prayers Himself, just as Christ promised He would.
Don’t Catholics trust God Himself enough to go right to Him with their prayers. Instead they think that God will listen to someone more *holy* and sinless quicker than He would to one of His own children, in direct contradiction to what it taught by Jesus in the NT.
All this nonsense about God not being able to refuse Mary anything she requests is evidence enough of the Catholic church’s lack of faith in God’s willingness to answer someone’s prayer.
Go through her to get from Him what He would not give if you went to Him yourself.
What a crock.
Mary is not going to convince God to do anything that He wouldn’t already do and she’s not going to demand that He go against His will and I don’t belevie that she would go against His will.
If God is not going to give it to you, Mary is not going to get Him to give it to you either.
.
Mary can do nothing.
She is a corpse awaiting the Day of Trumpets.
.
Romans 8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, Abba! Father!
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Galatians 2:20-21 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.
Galatians 4:4-7 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba! Father! So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
Ephesians 3:14-19 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith-that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
He was killed here on earth, in space and time, and the work of redemption was finished at that time.
WHat Jesus si doing now in heaven is being seated at the right hand of the Father.
Whatever sacrifice your priests and you Catholics think you are continually participating in, is NOT the same sacrifice as Calvary.
Jesus in heaven
Acts 2:32-36 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool. Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.
Acts 5:30-31 The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
Romans 8:34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who diedmore than that, who was raisedwho is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
Ephesians 1:15-23 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
Ephesians 2:4-6 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christby grace you have been savedand raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Colossians 3:1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Hebrews 1:1-4 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
Hebrews 9:11-17 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.
Hebrews 8:1-2 Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the holy places, in the true tent that the Lord set up, not man.
Hebrews 9:24-28 For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
Hebrews 10:8-14 When he said above, You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings (these are offered according to the law), then he added, Behold, I have come to do your will. He does away with the first in order to establish the second. And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
Hebrews 10:15-18 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds, then he adds, I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.
Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
1 Peter 3:21-22 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.
Just like every believer.
Just like every believer who has died, that is, although it’s not too far from the truth that even while we are alive here on earth, we are basically dead men walking.
Our bodies are in the process of dying.
Ain't it the truth!
There’;s not a single word you sent me in this post, that I would disagree with.
Yet how Rome views the Mass is in contradiction to every one of the verses posted.
.
They have good reason to look for someone other than Yeshua to help them; they’ve mocked every element of his Earthly Ministry with their sungod worshiping doctrine.
