"Catholics Will Have to Decide Whether They Guard the Faith Over Papolatry"

“Francis is more interested in leftwing politics than in Catholic theology”, George Neumayr, contributing editor of The American Spectator, states talking to Tom Woods on July 14th on tomwoods.com. Woods describes Francis as a result of John Paul II who - as he puts it - appointed "absolutely terrible people" as bishops: "Catholics have suffered under Bergoglios for decades now”.

Neumayr agrees that a lot of the liberal bishops were appointed by John Paul II and Benedict XVI. He sees Francis as the “culmination of a century” of liberalism and modernism in the Church.

For him it is "highly unlikely" that Francis, who in his theology is “more a Protestant than a Catholic” will convert to Catholicism. Instead, the realistic scenario is that Francis will produce division and chaos, "Catholics will have to decide whether they guard the faith over papolatry.”

And: “The Cardinals have to declare that Francis is a bad pope who must be resisted.”

It’s a Gen Y/Z meme.

Basically, it means, “I know that I said something that’s gonna get someone mad, so I’m just going to flaunt it!”

Again, only your opinion. I will stick with the teachings of God’s church and the writings of the saints.

My question has always been, why would one rely on secondary sources when the original source, Gods Word, is available?

Specifically, it means that I know that most of the FR Catholics who read my post will be really annoyed with me, so I’m just going to embrace them being annoyed.

While making ‘PEW PEW PEW’ noises while shooting off my posts.

My study of the Word of God has lead me to appreciate the insights of saints and the truth of Catholic teaching. I would rather follow them than the false commentaries of the Protestants. As I have said many time, what is in dispute is not the authority of Scripture but its interpretation. And here, the Protestants have gotten it wrong. The truth, which Protestants do not want to admit, it that they are just as bound to their own traditions in the interpretation of Scripture as are the Catholics.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church admits that private confession first came on the scene in the seventh century.

That is private confession, not confession itself. As the very quote you give states, in the early centuries it was done publicly and only for very grave sins. The sacrament existed all along, only how it was practiced changed. So what?

Can I presume that according to you, "seeing the truth" and "becoming obedient to his word" means one must become a Roman Catholic and do all the things required of "faithful" Catholics? Is this what you are praying for?

But of course! : )

Pure nonsense. The plain and succinct words of Jesus are purposely twisted by Catholicism so the off., the institution of your false religion can be empowered. In that is proof enough that Catholicism is not from GOD ... yet you insist you will remain therein.

The plain and succinct words of Jesus …

Like:

"This is my body."

"Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."

" If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions."

"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven."

"If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments."

The meaning of these words are clear and easy to understand. It is the Protestants who must twist them to empty the of this clear meaning so that they can maintain their man-made tradition of "faith alone."

Should we also not be called instructors, or Teachers, or leaders, or masters, or directors?

New International Version
Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.

International Standard Version
Nor are you to be called ‘Teachers,’ because you have only one teacher, the Messiah!

New American Standard Bible
“Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, Christ.

King James Bible
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

Young’s Literal Translation
nor may ye be called directors, for one is your director — the Christ.

It appears the root of your problem is the assumption that all Scripture is about Christians. It is not.

All is for us. Not all is about us. This would help with much of what you post FRiend.

A classic example of rationalization to deny the clear meaning of Scripture and force it to comply with a preconceived notion of "by faith alone." I will stay with the plain meaning of Scripture over Protestant denials.

“A classic example of rationalization to deny the clear meaning of Scripture”

Call no man father.
I am the door.
I am the vine.

All very clear, but the meaning of the passage tells the whole counsel of God.
