I was just thinking they might be. My cousin in Kentucky has his doctorate in music and plays church organs...and is a homosexual.

It hurts me to read that, though it’s as I have long expected. I’ve got a talented cousin with a degree in organ. He’s in his sixties and has lived far away from the rest of the family since the mid-70’s. He doesn’t give off a gay vibe, but he’s never married and never shown discernible interest in either girls or guys. From my vantage point he seems to have a monkish existence. He has become quite wealthy as an organist and his music projects keep him busy. His best friends are all women, but I think they are just close friends.

My son is getting his Master's in pipe organ at one of the top schools in the country.

My mother was a church organist. I can say with certainty that she isn't and wasn't. I also went to the wedding of a traditional Catholic couple and the organist certainly was not (his lovely bride is a traditional Catholic Texan, and her type doesn't put up with that sort of nonsense.)

BTW, what organs did you service? When it was time to get a new organ, my mom recommended the less expensive Allen, but the Parish Council went with the AOB. Her home organ was a used Baldwin.

I knew one who wasn't — in 1968. The guy who replaced her was, and he died of AIDS in the 80s. The whole organ and harpsichord community that hung around Philadelphia and played the Wanamaker organ were all gay. Even the tuners. All dead of AIDS by 1990.

I know two organists very, very well. Personal friends. They are both as straight as can be. I know several others in passing, and since my mom was a professional dancer, I can spot 'em, and I don't believe they're homosexual. I know one church organist who is, but he isn't a very good organist, mostly a choir director.

Maybe somebody in your company was advertising, as you said, in the homosexual publications.
