http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/news/2013/03/06/the-men-who-could-be-pope-cardinal-christoph-schonborn/

In recent years Cardinal Schönborn has not hesitated to be critical of the Curia. After former Secretary of State Cardinal Angelo Sodano called the media uproar about the clerical child abuse scandal “idle gossip”, Cardinal Schönborn lambasted him in the press for his lack of sensitivity and understanding about the crisis. Another media war ensued in which Cardinal Schönborn also accused Cardinal Sodano of obstructing an investigation into the abuse allegations against Cardinal Groër, which he and the then Cardinal Ratzinger were pushing for in 1998.

Sodano. Groër.

Bishops. Covered in post #73.

“SODANO AND MACIEL”

One order. You’re proving my point for me.”

Proving again that you are covering up the abuse. As an historian..you should know all about Sodano.

Oh and in that post didn’t you say it wasn’t about Money.

Sodano shows otherwise

“Proving again that you are covering up the abuse.”

So you’re claiming I am covering up what is already published around the world on the internet? Do you realize how ridiculous that statement is? How would it even be possible to cover up what has already been published and circulated around the world? The answer is that it is not possible. And to accuse someone of doing what is literally impossible is a sign of desperation.

“As an historian..you should know all about Sodano.”

And I do.

Bishop. Covered in post #73.

Thanks again for not only proving my point but showing between the two of us only I am posting logical comments.

In a rare breach of normal etiquette at senior levels of the church, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna has directly accused another cardinal of complicity in the cover-up of sexual abuse allegations against his predecessor as the most important figure in the Austrian church.

“Why would a poster here who claims to be an historian and knows all about the Catholic Church LIE about Soando and Groër”

Who EXACTLY are you accusing of lying? You see, to accuse someone of lying in the Religion Forum is prohibited and that post gets removed. So I ask you again, who EXACTLY are you accusing of lying?

Btw, what about the Lavender Mafia. Are you going to claim it doesn’t exit?

If it does exist, how does that square with Catholic teachings

“SODANO AND MACIEL”

One order. You’re proving my point for me.”

But it wasn’t just one..was it?

Why didn’t you admit that since you are an expert historian as you claim

Tell us about Sodano and the money. You said it wasn’t about the money. Yet, it has been shown it is about the money.

“sure you are...you made a post about Sodano as if it was only one instance and one order..”

It was ONE order. You posted an example of ONE order.

“when you know it wasn’t..”

It was ONE order. You post an example of EXACTLY one order and only one order in that post.

With each post you prove my point.

“and I had to bring it up.”

No you didn’t. Your posts are bizarre. What makes you think you had to bring up Sodano as opposed to any other bishop who may have done something wrong? Besides, I already covered the problem in post #73. There is little else you could possibly say that would supersede that.

Also why do you keep pretending that a Cardinal is on the same level as a Bishop.
They aren’t on the same level.

The Dean of the Cardinals is not the same thing as a lowly bishop in the US.

Why do you pretend that a Cardinal does not outrank a Bishop?

Yes, Pope John Paul II did not follow up but this was because he just did not believe in the accusations. They were, to him, just too outrageous and, coming from Communist Poland, he was too aware of Communist tactics of using false charges to destroy people. He was wrong.

Even as Cardinal, Pope Benedict reopened the case against Maciel. As soon as he became Pope he removed him. Even the article states that in his last two years as Pope, Benedict defrocked 384 priests. Today the Church has very strict standards. But I guess this does not mean anything to you.

Do you believe the Holy Spirit made a mistake during the last conclave?

The Holy Spirit does not make mistakes.

Did the Holy Spirit make a mistake when the Arian heresy swept through the Church? Did God make a mistake when ISIS overran Mosul and Christians were slaughtered and women raped?

God permits certain things to happen which may not be in accord with his plan for either the Church or humanity. Nevertheless, God can and does bring good out of these temporary evils.

God's promise to the Church is that the gates of hell will not prevail against it. It is through the Church's 2,000 year tradition that it is able to persevere and overcome crises like the present one. It is not my opinion which is being opposed to the Pope's (as implied in that fatuous cartoon) but its unbroken apostolic tradition.

I am just struck by the fact that a poster keeps trying to say that a Cardinal is the same level as a Bishop.

Instead of denouncing what Sodano did in his powerful position a poster keeps saying he is just a Bishop.

“In a rare breach of normal etiquette at senior levels of the church, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna has directly accused another cardinal of complicity in the cover-up of sexual abuse allegations against his predecessor as the most important figure in the Austrian church.”

This is pretty important in a Sex Abuse scandal. Of course, after the Pope got involved and admonished him that only the Pope can criticize, etc., the Cardinal walked it back a bit.

“I am just struck by the fact that a poster keeps trying to say that a Cardinal is the same level as a Bishop.”

Are you referring to me? You are not posting correct information for one thing. Secondly, you are supposed to send a post where you refer to a poster to that poster and not just someone else.

“Instead of denouncing what Sodano did in his powerful position a poster keeps saying he is just a Bishop.”

That’s untrue. Again, if you’re referring to me, I am not saying he is “just” a bishop. He IS A BISHOP. I addressed the issue of bishops in post #73. And where are you denouncing Sodano? Are you denouncing him in every post about him? Do I have to render judgment now on everyone whose name you throw out here before I discuss the import of your actual post?
