I was raised a catholic. I don't say "I go to a catholic church" or "I'm a member of the roman catholic church". I say I am a Catholic. It's part of my identity. The Church has always been far from perfect but it was MY Church and I would stick with it come what may. Not blindly, certainly, where it needed to do better I would raise my voice but from within the Church. Always within.

It was pretty easy under John Paul II, frankly. But these leftists who have now taken over the church are breaking me. I feel like the leadership doesn't have any faith, that it's all about politics to them. And it leaves me feeling adrift.

This idiot thinks that turkey-baster children deprived of natural parents are OK.

He’s simply not a Catholic. That is not Catholic teaching, it’s pure heresy.

What scares me is that I truly believe that economics are driving them to the Left.

The average active Catholic who attends Mass regularly and financially supports his Church is over 50. Millenials have pretty much stopped going. For every baptism there are ten funerals.

The panic over shrinking collections is palpable.

I have seen some panicky things in my Church’s bulletin about the need to lure young people back to the Church. And while I don’t disagree, there is a right way and a wrong way to do that.

My fear is that they are going to choose the wrong way. Like caving to the Millenial belief that not giving gays everything they demand is analogous to bullying.

Of all the poppycock I’ve heard from priests for many decades, this statement about ‘embryos’ is the most unsettling. We’ve all heard priests who are soft on abortion because they sympathize with the plight of an unwed mother. But never have I heard a priest actually declare an ‘embryo’ is not human, nor perhaps even alive! That defining life is not a biological question, but purely a philosophical one!

I really cannot take this on face value, it’s too incredible and unprecedented. Where is the source for this quotation? What was the context, the year, was it an interview or what? Was he bishop or priest at the time? Could there be a translation problem? Or incorrect reporting? It does appear to be out of context of a larger discourse?

This is unlike anything yet out of the Bergoglio reign. The Church is almost fully secularized, but I’ve never heard this line of reasoning. To follow it is to lose the dogma of Transubstantiation! So, that’s why I’m wondering about the source, not to cast doubt on your post.

Indeed, there are. And if they think I’m going to give up my religion - as lousy as I am at it - and go to some other faith, they’ve got another think coming. I was educated enough to know that there are bad people in this world but that The Father, Son and Holy Ghost go on. May heretics look to their own souls, as I look to mine.

The further left the church lurches and the more it states that it offers no universal truths and the ephemeral politics of the moment drive it, the fewer people see the point in being part of it. Go figure.

- as lousy as I am at it -

Fortunately, we have a strong Redeemer- an Advocate who sits at the right hand of The Father Almighty! How can we fail when we are robed with the robe His righteousness? Our vicarious victory through His absolute victory over sin and death.

Thank you for those beautiful words.

In any case, I will hold strong to my religion unlike someone like Sean Hannity who is always hinting that he will go to some other religion because we have bad priests and a noxious Pope! As if all religions don’t vomit up bad people. Another badly educated Catholic.

So to be clear, for over 2,000 years, the morons before him were truly rubes. So can I take communion today if I sinned grievously and haven’t repented? What about divorce - can they come back to the Church and remarry? How could those rubes be right about anything?

Here’s the link, which was included in the article if you had opened it.

The publishing date of the article was 9/26/2016. And the Bergolio bishop was appointed bishop on 9/19/2016 and he’ll be ordained as such on 12/03/16.

Yup. As much as we loathe and despise islam it offers simple ‘truths’ and concrete actions (no alcohol, no pork, prayers on Friday). Of course it also offers chaos and murder every other day of the week which is why American prisoners and teenager boys love it.
