What was the role of the Catholic Church in building Western Civilization? While the typical mainstream narrative depicts the church as hostile to science and philosophy, it appears that once again the truth about history has been stolen from us. Dr. Duke Pesta joins Stefan Molyneux to discuss the unspoken truth about the impact of the Catholic church on scientific inquiry, philosophy and Western Civilization overall.

Two mentions of Galileo means somebody brought up the inquisition - even if it wasn’t you. Of course, Galileo is the exception who proves the rule about how The Catholic Church nurtured and sustained western civilization. It did and most cultured and truly free-thinking people understand that.
LOL!
Now “Lord” doesn’t mean “God”!!!
Man, you’ll say ANYTHING!
Why don’t you quote it correctly??
“Has anyone other than you brought up the inquisition??”
Yes, anyone who ever brought up Galileo. Good catch miss marmelstein!
“As I said when the name calling begins the Catholic has lost the debate. It’s just like the left when they bring up the charge of racism. They’ve lost the debate.”
You lost this debate as soon as it began. It always amazes me how little anti-Catholics know about everything and yet hey routinely pass themselves off as the experts on just about everything.
Isn’t there a lot of dispute amongst catholcs over Vatican II? What about the current pope? A lot of catholics on this thread want the guy taken out.
Nothing like a little torture to get others to agree with you.
Wonder if that was part of the problem in Mexico??
People bring up the 3rd world and then say others brought up the 3rd world; people bring up Galileo and say others brought up the inquisition. How do you argue with that?
“How do you argue with that?”
You have to think of it as being the same as arguing with children. Remember that children have no idea of what they’re talking about. They have little knowledge, can’t use logic, can’t make distinctions, are emotional, stamp their feet when frustrated, and then when all else fails, they resort to lying. Ignorance and duplicity are the anti-Catholics normal, standard modes of operation. The best thing to do in debate then is simply help them to fail for failure is their natural end. You don’t so much argue AGAINST them as argue ALONGSIDE them helping them to their inevitable failure and embarrassing or cowardly exit.
“It always amazes me how little anti-Catholics know about everything and yet hey routinely pass themselves off as the experts on just about everything” it said, while presuming to know everything.
I have noticed the childishness in some posts (I’m being kind). It’s why I avoid responding to some of them. By the way, I got one post removed because it got personal in a particular way. When freepers cry ‘raaaacccciiiiissssst!” you know they’ve lost the plot.
“it said, while presuming to know everything.”
First of all, I’m not an “it”. I’m a person. The very fact that you can’t apparently bring yourself to refer to a person with a personal pronoun says a great deal about your general outlook on people. Secondly, I don’t presume to know everything, I just know from decades of experience that I know a great deal more about some things than every anti-Catholic I have ever encountered - and that’s hundreds and hundreds of them. That fact is seen in this very thread. I refuse to deny my own experience - repeated many, many times - of encountering anti-Catholic ignorance and presumption. Whether or not you think that’s presumption on “its” part is completely unimportant to me. I know what I know and I know anti-Catholics and what they don’t know from my own experience.
“When freepers cry raaaacccciiiiissssst! you know theyve lost the plot.”
Oh, my gosh.
Kinda like when Catholics toss around the words bigot, moron, etc as we’ve seen from some on this thread. You know they’ve lost the argument.
Who called you a moron? I didn’t see it.
Just an observation in dealing with some roman catholics and the majority of liberals. When the name calling begins the debate has been lost.
Oh, so no one on this thread called you or anybody else a moron. Got it.
See post 87.
I still don’t see where you were called a moron.
Because I don’t remember the Greek.
Since I do not know your sex, I chose to use “it”. It is not a matter of ‘disrespecting’ you —I don’t respect you at all, positively or negatively, having read numerous posts from your haughty, condescending, arrogant fingers— it is just a choice of pronouns I’m allowed to make.
