Question: How will God judge non-Catholics at the time of their death? — William Bandle, Manchester, Missouri
Answer: Scripture says, “God does not see as a mortal ... The Lord looks into the heart” (1 Sam 16:7). Thus, God, who knows our hearts, will judge us based on what is there. Not all have had the same opportunity to come to know the Lord, his Church and the help of the sacraments. God is just; he knows this and will judge accordingly.
Jesus says, “That servant who knew his master’s will but did not make preparations or act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating, shall be beaten only lightly” (Lk 12:47-48).
In terms of non-Catholics who lacked some knowledge or sacraments of the Church, God will look into their hearts and judge them based on what they reasonably could have known and their actions based on that.
Therefore, to say that God looks into the heart does not mean that he merely looks to a person’s feelings or disposition. Rather, as Scripture says, we will be judged by our deeds (see Rom 2:6-11). Did our actions correspond to what we knew was expected of us or not?

Thus, the degree of a person’s knowledge of God’s will and his obedience to that knowledge in deeds will be key on the Day of Judgment. This does not mean all non-Catholics and other nonbelievers simply get a pass. Their ignorance of full Catholic teaching must be what is called “invincible ignorance,” meaning a lack of knowledge that they could not reasonably overcome. Thus, if one is lazy or makes excuses when seeking the truth, God will take it into account.
Since the Lord alone sees into our heart, he alone will be our just judge.
The Church allows, but does not require or speak infallibly about such apparitions. Many Catholics do believe in Fatima and the promises about the scapular, (which I believe was given in another apparition). Many are skeptical. Both are allowed.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT CATHOLICS ARE REQUIRED TO BELIEVE THE TEACHINGS OF THE CHURCH AS TAUGHT BY SOME COUNCILS AND RATIFIED BY THE POPE. THEY ALSO HAVE TO BELIEVE IN TWO INFALLIBLE STATEMENTS BY THE POPE ABOUT MARY.
If the apparition is the same Mary of the Bible and the one that catholics have written who knows how many books, prayers, songs about and named too many buildings after then what's the problem??
I think it's because the false promise contradicts Scripture.
Catholicism likes to have it both ways on mary. The "positive" stuff they believe and share with everyone....the false stuff like this they run from.
Even when I was a Catholic I thought it strange to make “prayers” a penance.
Catholics MAY believe in some apparitions. Catholics must believe in certain taught dogmas about Mary.
Read about it in the Catechism.
So, if you do not believe these Marian dogmas, will you go to Hell? or just spend lots more time in the mythical place Catholiciism calls ‘purgatory’? Does your salvation depend upon fidelity to the catholic religion’s sacraments?

As a converted Catholic, I don't buy into all the Mary "mumbo-jumbo" that a decent part of the laity have decided to latch on to -- I would suggest, to you, that while the Catholic Church (rightly so) points to Mary as being a model of our human faith, and trust in God's Will, that you don't confuse that the habits/rituals of the faithful have *anything* to do with Official Church teaching(s)...
Have you read the four Gospels? Did you miss the scene where Mary and the siblings of Jesus came calling to have a talk with Him aside from the crowds?
A grat book to read is "Four Witnesses" by Bennett.

As I noted earlier....roman catholics like to have it both ways on "Mary".
None of it is supported by the Word though.
We do not avoid the hell-fire by wearing a piece of cloth.
Hell is avoided by having faith in Christ and Christ alone.
It is His death on the cross that keeps us out of the hell-fire.
He made the sacrifice. No one else.
I'm sorry, did I post somewhere that Mary had Perpetual Virginity?
You may not have but, boy have others!

1, Back to idea that started this thread. If one is sincerely searching and due to invincible ignorance disbelieves sure God will judge. If know true only a crazy person would deny it.
2. Purgatory is pre-figured in the Old Testament I believe. Hope some one reading this thread will help on that.
3. The Sacraments are dogma and yes Catholics must believe. Those who do not are free to leave the Church and should if they are sincere. Sacraments are strengtheners for living a Christian life. People who have been away from them and go back can testify to that fact.
Please read the original article again. Monsignor Pope was very generous with non-Catholics, especially those who had a lack of knowledge.
No
Do you wear the scapular? If no...why not?
Thanks. Hope others will pick up on this thread.
I’m allergic to wool so I wear the medal.
When I was first shown John 10:27-30 in the Bible, I knew almost immediately that, until then, all my life I was NOT hearing the truth about the gospel from being a cradle Catholic. One of the first things I did was get a Bible and start studying it. I also attended a Bible believing and teaching church and a teen Bible study group. I had a deep hunger to know God and the truth He has revealed. I went to Bible college because I wanted to learn God’s word for myself and not just swallow whatever others told me it said. God certainly rewarded me for diligently seeking Him - something He has promised to all those who search for Him with all their hearts.
I appreciate your answer to the question.
