Yeah, that’s it. I don’t know enough

I think it's called giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Winner!

“You think you know a lot about Catholicism; the problem is, everything you know is wrong. Catholics here have tried, time and again, to spread some accurate information about the Church, but there is a certain type of person who cannot be dissuaded from error. Speaking for myself, I’m just tired of it.”

Cannot discuss in good faith! When given the Truth it is ignored only to attack something else. To hold a true discussion both parties have to have Good Will and wish to discuss in good faith to truly seek the Truth. That is not present here and it is not seeked either, which is the very root of the problem in ALL these Daily posts. Some have an agenda which cannot be question and in some cases protected.

Also I agree Salvation has posted Very Good information and has responded to post and challenges so many times to accuse her of not doing so is Unjust!

I say again there is a point where the dust should be brushed away and move on to the next town.

God Bless

His respect for the authority of Scripture drove Wycliffe to promote an English translation of the Bible. The church bitterly opposed it: “By this translation, the Scriptures have become vulgar, and they are more available to lay, and even to women who can read, than they were to learned scholars, who have a high intelligence. So the pearl of the gospel is scattered and trodden underfoot by swine.”

Wycliffe replied, “Englishmen learn Christ’s law best in English. Moses heard God’s law in his own tongue, so did Christ’s apostles.”

Speaking for myself, I’m just tired of it.

The problem with roman catholicism is there is so much written on the various topics, the catholic is not familiar with all of the divergent opinions in catholicism.

When Christians point these out the catholic does not like it.

Some have even run to the owner of this board to protest the "attacks on catholicism" even though we have posters who put this type of article on the board on an on-going basis.

Are they trying to lure Christians into a fight in an attempt to have them banned?

Catholics have tried on more than one occasion to have posts or threads pulled and posters banned all because they did not like the truth of roman catholicism being told.

The Christian who posts anything negative about roman catholicism is often branded as a hater.

This is FREE REPUBLIC. As the RM has noted 4:

All other threads on the Religion Forum are “Open” which means they are like a town square. Challenges and ridicule will occur. Expect them to be contentious, rough or even insulting. Your confession will be maligned on open threads. Your beloved religious figures will be ridiculed. Don’t complain because the author or a religious figure is called a liar, demon, heretic or whatever on an open thread. It is to be expected in the town square. Remember too that the Religion Forum is densely populated with highly educated theologians. If you are ill-equipped to defend your confession, you’ll get beat up on “Open” thread. When in doubt, ping one of your best defenders and withdraw to a “Closed” thread.

When I was raised Catholic, not all that long ago, I was taught that I should not a read the Bible.

I was told that the average lay person could not understand it themselves and that it was for the seminary trained, educated clergy to read it and tell us what it means.

And I KNOW that I am not the only one who was told that and remembers it.

Do you lack discretion when you post Pope’s articles that intentionally provoke the non-Catholic Christians here? Is someone forcing you to post his daily musings? You complain about so-called “Catholic bashing” all the time yet seem to have no qualms at all about posting threads that are negative and directly aimed at those who ARE Christians but do not identify as Catholics. You need to explain how this is not blatant hypocrisy, Sal.

Yeah, that’s it. I don’t know enough. It wouldn’t matter if quoted your popes, doctors of the church, Saints, or the catechism (which I have read its entirety), I am sure someone would say I’m wrong.

No matter what a non-Catholic claims about Catholicism, some Catholic will come along and tell them they are wrong.

Problem is, there's a huge lack of Catholics telling us what is right.

It's just telling us we're wrong, go look it up for yourself.

Just for the record, BTW, the EO consider the RCC to be in schism and that they, the EO, are the true form of Catholicism on earth.

So now there's two different opinions and claims and how are we to decide?

Believe the one who says, *I'm right cause I say so*?

Yeah, that'll work really well in establishing truth.

Did she say that?

Why did you change the subject and why didn’t you just answer the question instead of deflecting and turning an attack on bb?

You’re one of the first to run to the RM. I know you’ve tried to have some of my threads pulled in the past.

There are several former roman catholics, who are now Christians, in the class I teach who confirm what you say regarding the admonition to not read the Bible.

Some have claimed that anyone who has been baptized anywhere anytime is by default a Catholic, whether they know it or not and whether they like it or not.

I guess we kind of broke that mold, didn't we? By the way, I was told I couldn't interpret the Bible on my own. When I asked someone why he was interpreting the Bible on his own, he said he wasn't interpreting it, he was just reading it, and telling me what it said. I got a good laugh out of that.

Every former Catholic I know says the same thing.

And what I see here that is disingenuous, is that some Catholics will come along and say that they are encouraged to read the Bible in their church. Now. In SOME parishes.

But they don’t tell us what they grew up being told. They just use present day information and give it as if it had always been that way, and then accuse us of lying.

Wow... you Catholics sure know how to twist scripture...

Contextually speaking, what the author is saying is complete nonsense...

You opined:"This is not the language of self-confident assurance. Our salvation is something that remains to be worked out." Ya know, the catholic mind is so twisted that other meanings that apply to the statement from Paul cannot even be allowed to register! But I'm gonna post one, anyway, so you can prick up your self pride a bit more.

When I was first given the keys to the family car, I was the driver. I had the privilege of being the driver. My mother however cautioned me to take great care in how I drove. ... Kind of 'work out the use of the car with fear and trembling because there are lots of and drivers and all sorts of dangers when driving.'

I know, I know, you cannot see that as analogous because it would not fit with catholiciism's form of religion.... Yet another reason that religion is NOT CHRISTIANITY.

You opined, "The beating is for those WHO KNOW THE FATHER’S WILL and do not join the church."

Just a question here: do you mean the Catholic Church or the ekklesia of believers in Jesus, the Bride Jesus is fashioning for Himself?
