August 9, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – Italian Bishop Nunzio Galantino, a personal appointee of the pope and a prelate who has been extolled as the “prototypical ‘Pope Francis bishop,’” is coming under criticism after delivering a homily to young people at World Youth Day in which he rewrote the story of God’s destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
While the clear meaning of the text is to emphasize God’s hatred of sin, in the bishop’s telling the message of the story is about Abraham’s willingness to emphasize “positive possibilities” and "signs of hope" despite the “misdeeds” of the people of Sodom.
It’s an interpretation that fits less with Catholic tradition than with the grievous admonition from the Extraordinary Synod on the Family that the Church should emphasize the “positive aspects” of mortally sinful lifestyles.
Here is what Bishop Galantino said, according to a translation provided by author and commentator Rod Dreher:
The intense dialogue between God and Abraham in the first reading tell us about prayer. And it’s about prayer that Jesus is asked in the Gospel. A prayer which is not an escape from troubles and responsibility, but a live experience made of listening and answering, through which God creates an authentic relationship and pushes us to be daring. As daring as Abraham’s intercession prayer in favor of Sodom. A city upon which nobody would have bet a dime. His intercession prayer and his will to dare save Sodom. The city is saved because some righteous ones are there, even though a few of them. But the city is saved above all because Abraham, a man of prayer, is not a relentless accuser, he doesn’t speak against but in favor. Abraham, man of prayer, doesn’t point to the misdeeds, but he announces the possibility for something new. Abraham, man of prayer, announces and invites to look at the positive possibilities. Abraham, man of prayer, is a tireless searcher for sign of hopes to present to the Lord for Him to give them value.

The Roman Catholic Leadership is only defending Sodomy because they continue to cause this abomination in their priestly ranks by not allowing priestly marriage. They could easily repeal the unnatural regulations against priestly marriage. For crying out loud...Peter, their first Pope, was Married!
I’ll believe the Word of God, referenced to by Christ’s half-brother Jude before a backslid, unbelieving Right Reverend Glockenspiel, or whatever his name is.
And I think this word from Jude begs the question as to what it might have been like around the supper table when Jesus occasionally popped in to visit His Mom and Joseph. I know it says his brothers didn’t believe on Him until after the resurrection. But I’m guessing the convers-ations were verrry interesting, to say the least.

You do Realize the Vow of Celibacy means NO SEX PERIOD. Any Priest breaking that vow is commenting a direct Sin against God and his own words, Not to mention the Abomination of homosexuality, oh which is equivalent to Adultery and other sins of the Flesh. Note even if a man thinks(lusts) in his mind he sins... I know for my part I have sinned and had to go to confession for this how about you?

I’ve often had the feeling that many of my Catholic and Episcopalian friends and relatives were not particularly familiar with the Old Testament. This could be another example of that.

I know I’m wasting my time, and so I won’t even get into the subject of Saint Peter; but I suggest you don’t embarrass yourself further by posting your agenda-driven BS and try to post opinions based on facts.

The problem is twofold. Jobs whichninvolve access to children attract predators. When you demand celibacy you take away a good screening process, that of looking at men’s family life. Second many men turn to unnatural things when they are celibate, or away from women. Many men in prison turn gay, classically it also occurred in armies where they were away from women for months or years at a time.
