I think same sex attraction is a sin whether one acts on it or not. When Jesus said that if a man looks at a woman lustfully (i.e. Opposite sex attraction) that he commits adultery in his heart. If opposite attraction is a sin, same sex attraction must be as well. I think Jesus’ point is that we sin all the time and are incapable of righteousness on our own.
Looking lustfully is an act. That is why it is sinful.
Christ was tempted by the devil, but never sinned.
The author, IMO, does a pretty good job differentiating the two, but fails to recognize that the lustful leer is itself an action taken voluntarily by the leerer.
Opposite attraction is not a sin... If it is... It would be sinful to get married and act on it...
But "opposite attraction" is not a sin. It is a natural, normal, healthy, God-given part of our sexual design.
What's a sin, is entertaining unlawful sexual desire, a.k.a. deliberately fantasizing, a.k.a. intentionally indulging impure thoughts, a.k.a. "Looking at a woman to lust after her."
That's quite different than spontaneous "opposite attraction."
Attraction is a physiological, involuntary response.
If that is a sin, blame God, not the individual.
“I think same sex attraction is a sin whether one acts on it or not.”
It’s a temptation put out there by the father of lies.
Being tempted is not a sin.
Anybody with SSAD (Same Sex Attraction Disorder) needs to pray for God to remove the evil vile thoughts and desires
God is so much more powerful than satan and one needs to call on Him in times of such temptations.
