While more specificity may have been welcomed, his words in Amoris Laetitia assure us that the first pope known to have uttered publicly the word “gay,” continues to believe that mercy trumps judgement every time – for everyone.

“Hence it can no longer simply be said that all those in any ‘irregular’ situation are living in a state of mortal sin and are deprived of sanctifying grace,” the pope wrote...

Then why avoid brothels? Casual sex?

Prayer for Peace of Mind
FORTIFY me with the grace of Your Holy Spirit and give Your peace to
my soul that I may be free from all needless anxiety, solicitude and
worry. Help me to desire always that which is pleasing and acceptable to
You so that Your will may be my will.

Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini

"Hence it can no longer simply be said that all those in any ‘irregular’ situation are living in a state of mortal sin and are deprived of sanctifying grace,” the pope wrote."

Where in the world does this conclusion come from? We see the word "hence" at the beginning which usually means there has been some justifying rationale previously explained which leads to the conclusion offered. But here there is no such rationale or scripture offered to justify this conclusion. And the conclusion blatently conflicts with scripture. "Irregular union" is just another way of saying "persistent sin" and lack of repentance - the bible makes it clear that this will "deprive someone of sanctifying grace"

He should be speaking the Mooslims about that, but that would be dangerous. Much safer to lecture people to whom it doesn’t actually apply.

“Critics decry this reasoning as promoting a double standard, since some heterosexual couples can’t procreate either”

“Cant, but are open to” and “can’t because of gods complete design” and “can’t because of refusal” are entirely different terms in sex, which, btw, was created and given to us by God. People forget that.
