I’m a “busybody” now? Isn’t an OPEN religion forum thread by design open to anyone who wants to comment?
Jesus and his disciples quoted Scripture prefaced by saying, “It is written...” or “Thus sayeth the Scriptures...”. They had scrolls that contained the written words of God usually divided by the book’s heading (i.e., The Law of Moses, the Prophets, the Psalms, etc.). Placing chapters and verses within the books once they were in printed form aided in the study of and references to. There was no nefarious intent in doing so. As for this being a “custom” of mine, I’d say it has become every Christians’. Want proof? Next time you’re in mass, check your missal for Scripture passages. Chapter AND verse is listed. This sounds like a tempest in a teapot to me.
Did you make a mistake with "Thus sayeth the Scriptures ..." ?
ROME has given you the truth, the whole truth and nothing BUT the truth.
Why kickest thou against the pricks?
