...During this time I was single, and friends set me up on a lot of dates. When they asked me if there were any deal breakers, I explained there was only one: No religious people.
Shortly after I made that declaration, I started dating a guy who mentioned, in passing, that he attended a Presbyterian church. I flinched. But I liked him, and because I was so religiously illiterate, I didnât understand that some Presbyterian churches are evangelical. I assumed he was a cultural Christian, like the few other Christians I knew.
A few months into the relationship he confronted me with a question I didnât expect to get from any person I knew: âDo you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior?â

I hope she means “the secular” Christmas which has been watered down, distorted, bastardized, and de-Christianized to the point of absurdity.
If you read and digest the article, you will find it insightful, inspirational and quite beautiful. Some people will pre-judge the article because she is an avowed liberal. If those people read the article unaware of the author, they would have a more open mind and would be willing to see it for what it is.
“”I have watched her punditry and commentary slowly but surely change. It has been a joy to watch this transformation. Great article.””
True and I agree....She’s changed in front of us. I no longer dread seeing her on a discussion panel.
What kind of monster doesn’t like lights, music, presents an most important, COOKIES!!!! I am not someone who generally eats sweets.. but I have a pantry full of Christmas cookies people have made for me. MADE. From their own hands and hearts. Who can’t like that. One of the women in my County made me pomegranate chile jam. OH MY GOSH! And it’s given out of love. I don’t really care the motives, as I am not Christian. But I so look forward to this time of year because for a few short weeks, everyone just acts a little nicer.
She states she found Jesus because of the man she's living with.
We'll see which lasts the longest, her epiphany or her boyfriend.
She was married to a professor of Coptic Egyptian ethnicity. They divorced after only three years. She also dated Anthony Weiner for a year prior to the public revelation he exposed some private things on the web.
BTW, speaking of Kirsten's paid writing effort, is there ANY pundit, anchor, or regular guest on the tube that ISN'T promoting on TV a commercial bio or heart-tugging publication of some kind right now?
I confess Powers turgid gushings only inspired me to get off the computer and make lunch.

Ahh, the Episcopal Church strikes again. At a time when Ms. Powers was searching for answers and at the same time her own beloved Father is also searching for answers from a church that has dashed headlong into apostasy and outright heresy, both are morally and spiritually wounded. I am thankful God’s loving, healing grace was and is being revealed to Ms. Powers and I pray this same grace is or will be revealed to her father. Hopefully, God will use her to reach her father as well. God bless them both.

She would be even better off if she re-examined her
politics in light of her religious rebirth. It may
not lead her directly to conservatism but it might
redirect her from Democrat evil.
Christmas, to Christians is the Birth of Christ....if your a Christian, you love Christmas...
This woman is NUTS!!!
Thank you for posting this. I see it as another part of her testimony about her journey to accepting Christ as her Savior.
Did you read it?
“Ironically, after all of this, Christmas lost its luster for me. The rank materialism became too much to bear...”
She then concludes that “Christmas is a day ... to ponder the mystery and the wonder of a birth like no other.”
Some here probably didn’t read the article or put their political opinions over and above her telling how she went from being a ‘cultural Christian’ to falling away and then the journey back and an awakening in herself. I applaud her for her testimony and wish her blessings on her continued journey.
Awesome
Then you do not know the real story behind Nicholas the Coptic bishop
You nailed it Hildy. Well done!
Years ago I came to a personal solution for me. I don’t struggle anymore. For me, there’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Santa Claus, pretty decorated trees and houses, parties with great food, presents and surprises, lights everywhere. .this happens every year beginning after Halloween. There’s Chanukah, with its lights. It’s all beautiful, it’s fun. It’s the holiday season.
Then, there’s Advent and Christmas with holy music and personal prayer and meditation. For me, it’s a private time and I rarely talk about it, but it’s extremely valuable to me as a Christian. By its very nature, it cannot be contaminated by anything or anyone outside.
I don't agree with Powers on much but she was called by Jesus Christ and, however imperfectly, she answered the call.
She takes a constant barrage of abuse and filth from the Left over her faith. Far be it from me to judge her on her journey.
Right on and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
To know that these blonde bimbos get paid for their uninformed inane musings makes me question the acumen of the Fox airheads. To their discredit, the anchors (including the blonde Megyn) hang on to their every word as if it means anything. Whose the more stupid? FNC has become Comedy Central, ya think?
