ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE, November 30, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) -- On the plane returning from his journey to Africa today Pope Francis made his clearest remarks in condemnation of 'fundamentalist' Catholics.
"Fundamentalism is a sickness that is in all religions," Francis said, as reported by the National Catholic Reporter's Vatican correspondent, Joshua McElwee, and similarly by other journalists on the plane. "We Catholics have some -- and not some, many -- who believe in the absolute truth and go ahead dirtying the other with calumny, with disinformation, and doing evil."
"They do evil," said the pope. "I say this because it is my church."
"We have to combat it," he said. "Religious fundamentalism is not religious, because it lacks God. It is idolatry, like the idolatry of money."
Turning to Islam, the pope spoke of his friendship with a Muslim, adding, "You cannot cancel out a religion because there are some groups, or many groups in a certain point of history, of fundamentalists."
"Like everything, there are religious people with values and those without," he said. "But how many wars ... have Christians made? The sacking of Rome was not done by Muslims, eh?"

I've got news for you. The Pope doesn't believe Noah ever existed. Neither do most Catholics, Orthodox, Miaphysites, or Nestorians.
The ancient liturgical churches don't believe Adam and Eve even existed, much less ate the fruit from a tree. And they actually claim they've "never" believed it and have "always" believed in modern scientific cosmogony. Yes . . . even Bellarmine!
In the ancient liturgies and devotional literature of every one of these churches the fall of Adam and Eve is invoked constantly. And they claim it never happened. Imagine praying to G-d and invoking a "fictional" event that "never happened!"
The Armenian Church actually feels itself to the story of Noah and the Ark (Mt. Ararat), but they're just as modern, liberal, and higher critical as all the rest of them.
Their religion is completely false. Their fate is in God's hands but there is a verse that I particularly like in John 17, the real Lord's prayer, that says: v3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Indeed, what assault. As a practicing Traditionalist, I find your statement perplexing..what assault have we waged? We merely wish to practice our faith in the manner of the original Church. It is we who are being assaulted. A young woman went to Novus Ordo, got on her knees to receive the sacrament by the priest and was REFUSED...was she in Mortal Sin or a State of Grace, how is getting on ones knees in a sign of humility considered an assault?
The Holy Father also did not make any reference to a woman kneeling for Holy Communion.

I am a practicing Catholic and I go to daily Mass.
I DO have trouble sometimes with drivers who seem INTENT on suicide and me with them; OR those folks who are OBVIOUSLY thinking/doing something else, with me in back of them, TRYING NOT to think evil thoughts of them.
Impatience has always been a problem in my psyche. But then, everyone has a lacuna in his/her life. "Her" in my case.
I also have trouble with women wearing WAY TOO MUCH perfume and I am stuck near them--opera, ballet, other performances, etc., where I CAN'T move to another seat. Once I even asked the usher to move me to an odor-free place. Yuck.
Lol. Given enough time I am POSITIVE I could come up with more examples.

I've heard that several times from Catholic friends. I think you been manipulated a bit. We all know "Judge not lest you be judged". Every heathen knows that verse and they love to beat Christians over the head with it. But the rest of the bible gives that a better context. A good one is "If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ let him be accursed". It's not you who condemns, you are just giving testimony of what the bible says.

Yeah about that! I have 8 kids but I'm getting old and grumpy and I'm really starting to enjoy quiet. So the other day my 25 year old wanted to talk but in the middle of my answer he interrupted me for a fricking text on his phone. Little does he realize how much us 50ish year olds LOATHE that.
I usually allow others to have their own faith/beliefs. Like I said, it's not my call. No one has ever tried to convert me to anything else.
Also, I wouldn't DREAM of calling a non-Christian "accursed." THAT is condemnation, IMHO.
As you know, Catholics also believe in "Apostolic Tradition." I doubt that you do but that's all right with me. Why would I beat you over the head over it? Not my call to monitor your beliefs.
I think that we all usually try to do our very best in life, FReepers included of course. And, if they are nice to me, that's great. If they are snarky, I can push my "IGNORE" button. There isn't much use to do anything else. Why have a battle of words over something like that? God will be my judge and I trust Him.
Giving testimony to the Good News is right and good. I wonder if you think it's all right for you to cite condemnation to others for their non-Christian beliefs. Would you not be "casting the first stone"? I'm not trying to be provocative. It's just a question.
Steve Ray used to be an Evangelical Baptist minister and he thought that all of us Catholics were going straight to hell. He intended to convert us.
He knew that one had to be cognizant of those Catholic (heretical) beliefs before any evangelizing could occur. So, he and his wife, Janet, spent a full year reading about the Catholic Church. One night they found themselves on the living room floor, weeping, saying: "Oh no! We're CATHOLICS!"
He wrote a book called CROSSING THE TIBER and it says how it all came about for them.
NOW, he and his lovely wife do tours to the Holy Land [In the Footsteps of God] and there is one coming up called: IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF ST. PAUL.
A Protestant friend of mine and I took that first tour and it was MARVELOUS. Steve could quote Scripture backwards, forwards and upside down. He was a force majeure.
Also, one could SEE how the Israelis worked together: Jews, Catholics and Muslims. Israel, we were told, simply didn't have the bodies to do all the work needed to be done in Israel. Jews, we were told by Jews, would do road work but they wouldn't clean toilets or wash dishes. SOMEONE had to do those jobs. Muslim Palestinians did that work. We were told also that the Christians in Israel were Catholics.
One of our tour guides was a Catholic Palestinian Arab. That knocked around MY head for a while. But, he had made social friends-working allies with Jews and Muslims alike and other Catholic Arabs (naturally). It was all VERY strange for me.
The last place on the tour was a hamburger joint-diner, a la ELVIS, complete with pink Cadillac on the roof. Their burgers, fries and CHOCOLATE MALTS were deeelicious
Go figure.
WAY back in 1975 my husband and I were on our honeymoon in Acapulco. We were on a tour bus and some ahole was talking on a "new cel phone." I got annoyed at him because he was talking while others were trying to listen to the guide.
It was rude then and it still is.

Years ago a coin collector friend of mine was talking about Goth coins and I was like “They made coins? I thought they were barbarians!” Google them up. They were very advanced civilizations compared to the way we think of them today. One day “Americans” will probably have the same bad rap!!

Isn't there anything in the bible that answers this question for you? Does it seem un Christian to tell two gay guys who ask you to come to their wedding that the bible tells you that you can't go? Or how about if a guy in your church is sleeping with his father's wife, should someone say something about his non-Christian beliefs that seem to make that ok in his mind?
That's for sure, I always tell people I have 3 daughters and 5 human beings. ;-)

I've read the 1st book, there are 3 that I know of and I have a copy of each. I'm being pushed to dig them back out and do some serious study it seems.
