“Frigid housewife”?
Wow.
There are some vicious anti-Catholics on FR. I wonder how anyone who claims to be a Christian—no matter how vehemently he rejects Catholic beliefs about Mary—could think Jesus could take kindly to anyone’s insulting his mother, as the anti-Catholics do constantly.
That’s funny because a search of “frigid housewife” and “freerepublic” on Google only brings up this thread.
A search of “frigid wife” brings up a 2003 thread on a man who put his wife in a freezer hoping to revive her one day.
So, proof, blogger?
It is explained when one is walking after the flesh instead of in the Holy Spirit, when the religion becomes antiCatholic instead of doing the works we are commanded to do in love and keep ourselves unspotted.
I’ve seen the “frigid housewife” comment before, but it was not aimed at Mary but at the odd Catholic idea that she withheld sexual relations from Joseph for the duration of their marriage.
Even Pascal balked at that:
“The Gospel only speaks of the virginity of the Virgin up to the time of the birth of Jesus Christ. All with reference to Jesus Christ.”—Thoughts, 741
