Pope Francis marks 50th anniversary of Synods institution
Finally, explained Pope Francis, the synodal process culminates in listening to the Bishop of Rome, called upon to speak authoritatively [It. pronunciare] as Shepherd and Teacher of all Christians: not on the basis of his personal beliefs, but as the supreme witness of the Faith of the whole Church, the guarantor of the Churchs conformity with and obedience to the will of God, to the Gospel of Christ and the Tradition of the Church.
And in totally, we swear, completely unrelated news
Traits of narcissistic personality disorder: The most telling thing that narcissists do is contradict themselves. They will do this virtually in the same sentence, without even stopping to take a breath. It can be trivial (e.g., about what they want for lunch) or it can be serious (e.g., about whether or not they love you). When you ask them which one they mean, theyll deny ever saying the first one, though it may literally have been only seconds since they said it really, how could you think theyd ever have said that? You need to have your head examined!
UPDATE: an explanatory comment from my Guy Inside
Hes fudging hes strongly implying infallibility, but not saying that he will pronounce infallibly.
He wants everyone to come away with Whoa
this is infallible. We hear and obey! but leaving plausible deniability to say, No, no, I never claimed this particular bit was infallible

Mat_19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Any idea what that's all about??? I didn't think so...
Until your religion figures that one out, it won't have a clue about binding and loosing...You guys constantly throw that verse out there and you don't even know what the verse is talking about...
Lol
The Pope is not asking me to distribute communion to anyone. As laity in the pew, it is not for me to contemplate the sins of those looking to receive our Lord. I, first and foremost am called to discern whether my soul is in a state of grace worthy for Him to enter. Nor does a priest, require the date of one’s last confession before receiving the eucharist. It is a matter of personal spiritual responsibility.
Remember also that the reason to deny communion to someone is not as some form of punishment or retribution against sins committed but as a protection for the person in question. Receiving the holy eucharist in an outward state of rebellion against God is a serious matter that jeopardizes one’s salvation. This was the plight of Judas at the last supper.
It truly is possible to love the sinner and hate the sin in both the case of adultery and homosexual acts. First, it must be remembered that sexual intercourse is always wrong outside a sacramental marriage regardless of the genders involved. The heterosexual couple is just as guilty of sin as the homosexual couple if they are unmarried. The goal of Christ’s church isn’t to lock its door to the sinners but to convince them to repent as we see many times throughout the Gospels. First, a relationship must be built so that people learn to love Christ and once this relationship is treasured, only then will they be willing to repent.
It is somewhat fascinating to me that people of Protestant denominations who do not believe that the Eucharist is the actual body and blood of Jesus have opinions on whom should be in line for communion on Sundays ( or any day for that matter) Christ commands us to love one another and to pray for the salvation of all souls, not to take to the internet to condemn those whom we know not.
Protestants - habitually misinterpreting Scripture since 1517
I hold thespians in contempt. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Since Catholics were the only Christians on the planet for one thousand six hundred years, where did you get the gospel and scripture that differs from theirs????
God preserved His Word through the efforts of Catholics...God wrote NOTHING except possibly the 10 commandments. All Bible verses were written by men and preserved by men....inspired, YES, but not physically assisted.
How???...a vision....a personal revelation...perhaps a dream.....probably not, you heard and/or read it in a predominantly Catholic source.
So,.....the Catholic theologians for the past 2,015 years haven't been able to figure it out....but you, in only a few decades on Earth, have it all deciphered and are ready to tell all Christianity the true meaning....
O.K........we are all ears....'splain it to us....please.
Typical evangelical/rustic cultural ignorance. I’m used to it here.
Oh, yeah? Then how come we Catholics have to suffer, among many others, a "New American Revised Edition" bible? What's so "new", "american" or "revised" about God's Bible?
I am an intellectual my dear and an atheist. I also happen to be enlightened and thus understand that conservatism is the way to live a fulfilled life. You are a prancer, a pretender. We have tangled before. Don’t like you a bit.
Fundamentalists, keeping ignorance alive for another generation. :-)
An enlightened, atheistic, Lesbian...........O.K.....you are probably a Democrat too....would certainly follow your thought process.
Oh, dear! Beulah, peel me a grape! An intellectual with one of the clumsiest monikers on FR.
You’re also a major a**hole and what you’re doing on a site and a particular thread that is not particularly peachy-keen on atheists would mystify a coven of shrinks.
The modern versions, as long as they don’t change meanings, can merely help us understand the old style words contained in early Bibles...thee, thy,,thine...thou...seeketh, seeith,, I still read my Douay-Reims version but see nothing wrong with making it easier to follow....more will read it if they can figure out what it means.
Which raises an interesting question: how did this guy come from nowhere to get elected Pope? What deal was cut and with whom? It seems possible, based on the issues he's pushed this far, that he promised the gay mafia within the Vatican he would get recognition of homosexuality during papacy and thus he secured their votes. Nobody will ever know, of course, what happened behind those closed doors but he sure seems to be making a big deal out of pro-gay stuff and the gays in the church sure seem emboldened. Coincidence that these both happen at once?
Clumsy Gymnast. Loooove it. Unfortunately my screen name is at FR’s limit. Can not fit a single additional character into that database field.
Think about it. You have been previously referred to my about me page on here. Refresh your mind and remember me.
I have no desire to refresh my mind about you, O He of the Silly Moniker - which you apparently think is the soul of Wildean wit.
Tsk, tsk. Trying to seem superior is making you lesser.
