Pope Francis told a Roman Catholic meeting on family issues on Monday that the Church should not be a stuffy "museum of memories" but have the courage to change if that was what God wanted.
Francis urged bishops at the start of a three-week gathering, known as a synod, to humbly empty themselves of conventions and prejudices. They should not "point fingers at the others to judge them" or feel superior to those with different ideas.
In a passage that appeared to be directed at unbending traditionalists, the pope said bishops should beware the "hardening of some hearts, which despite good intentions, keep people away from God".
Yet he also made a nod to conservatives, calling for courage that "does not let itself be intimidated by the seductions of the world" and passing fads....

Looks like infallible, not so much.
Doesn’t the Catholic Church have some sort of impeachment process?
We are all sinners, and so we need to get our own houses in order - each of us. If we do that, we will change the world.
Francis is intentionally obtuse.
Wonder what he wants to change??
If that happened we wouldn’t have to be in politics!
Just pay attention to what he (Francis) says (the portion in quotes). It’s not that hard.
Or not, if you wish to believe something differently.
Everyone (on FR) should note though that Reuters yet again has inserted their own editorializing and agenda into this “article”.
I can remember when everyone here knew that about Reuters. And could also spot it with ease.
Whatever though. If it helps you sleep better at night to believe (with Reuters’ “help”) he’s...whatever you want to believe he’s doing...ok!
Good luck with that.
“Did God change His mind?”
If He did, He sure has a lot of apologizing to do to the former inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Change is the gospel, as written. It is God, the unchanging Rock of our Salvation. Changing people lives with the Good News!
Fundamental Christian beliefs do not change or we are condemned to hell.
When I converted to Catholicism, the teacher of the RCIA class was a wise, wonderful old priest who said, “The church is not a museum for saints. It is a hospital for sinners.”
I think this is what Francis is trying to express, and of course the lefty media want to blur the distinction between sin and sinner.
He is not saying sin is no longer sinful. He has stated —repeatedly—that the church’s position on homosexuality has not and will not change.
Likewise the church’s position on mercy and forgiveness.
“Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more.”
What he’s saying IS biblical, which is precisely why the media don’t understand it and insist on politicizing it.
He is inviting sinners to come into the church, lay their sins at the foot of the Cross, and be healed.
It’s not God’s role to change and adjust to our worldly culture....it’s our job to live up to God’s plan for us.
People stay away from God because they want to and not to excuse the bad behavior some perpetrate in the name of Christ, blaming it on them is also just an excuse.
A church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints. That being said, it is our goal to become saints...not remain sinners. We are to be changed, not our church.
Faith hope and change.
To the Pope: ...and the horse you rode in on. Scumbag clown.
The art in the Vatican is the patrimony of Western civilization. It is not the Pope’s property. It was and is a gift to the Church for the purpose of glorifying God. It is ALREADY public property.
If it WERE sold, where would it go? Into someone private home? A museum?
And wherever it was, would you be squawking that it should be “sold” by the billionaire who bought it? Probably not, because what you really hate is the Catholic Church.
The “synod” as such has been destroyed, by Bergoglio’s thugs. There will be much chatter, ending up with NO DOCUMENT.
Then Bergoglio’s thugs will fan out through the world, and Communion will be handed out like candy—as it ALREADY IS to abortionists.
The important thing is that CHANGE will take place, but without Bergoglio’s fingerprints on it.
No. There is not a word in Canon Law about removing a Pope.
But St. Robert Bellarmine wrote about it. More people have been boning up on Bellarmine in the last two years than in the previous 300.
Not at all. I was raised RC. I still abide by the teachings of the RC.
What I refuse to do is sit here thinking that God prefers art museums in cellars of kingdoms while the PsuedoKing is out telling the world to give of themselves without giving anything but communism of himself.
The church is fine. The Bible is fine. The doctrine is fine The people running it into hell via gays, communism and powertripping on the world stage are the problem.
Now if after all this pope and his henchmen have done this year alone, you see no problem, then perhaps it’s you contributing to the problem.
